chain is very short

Yhe necklace is beautiful & dainty. Just want I was looking for. Unfortunately I didn't read the chain size & it's way too small (15"). it's intended for a small framed woman.. It fits like a choker on me & it's not very comfortable. I think I may be able to add an extender so I don't hv to return it?
