Amazing Quality, Solid Wooden Toy

My daughter has used these since she was 14 months old. I removed the smaller sizes before giving her the set since they are a choking hazard for a child her age (and I didn't give her the laces). But, even though I removed some of the pieces, there are still plenty of beads for her to use. Later this year, we can use these beads to start to work more on patterning and lacing when she's more ready for those skills. So, this toy "grows" with her. What I love about this toy is that it has big, bold beads and is made of solid wood--kind of like an old-time toy. I was impressed by the chunkiness and weight of the beads. Plus, all the pieces can be stacked because even the spheres have a slightly flat end to them. We love to use these beads to learn shapes and colors. My daughter can sort the beads by both of these attributes, and she is learning shape and color vocabulary. Even at her age (2), she has learned what a "sphere" is! Of course, she also loves to stack 'em and knock 'em down! What kid doesn't like to do that, right? Next year, we'll be able to use the beads for patterning and lacing when my daughter is ready to learn those skills. So, this toy will "grow" with her!
