Can these opposites turn up the heat without burning down the house? House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can't wait to dig into her next challenge. Arriving in tiny Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker, Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less. She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team. What she doesn't have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright. The man takes flirtation to a whole new level. And he does it shirtless sometimes pants-less. He and his service school-dropout dog are impressively persistent. But she's not interested in putting down roots. Not when fans tune in to watch her travel the country turning dilapidated houses into dream homes. A short-term fling on the other hand could fit nicely into her calendar. After all, Maggie remembers what fun is like. Vaguely. As their summer gets downright steamy, Silas manages to demolish the emotional walls she's spent years building, sending Maggie into a panic. He's the wrench in her carefully constructed plans. With the end of the project looming, she has a decision to make. But how can she stay when her entire career is built on moving on?

    YMMV

I really loved Maggie, and the dog (of course) but Silas was not my favorite book boyfriend. This will work great for some readers, but others may find it a miss.

There were some great moments in this novel!

YouTube star Maggie Nichols flips houses and films them for her channel, earning a million followers with her charm and talent. When she finds her next house in Kinship, Idaho, she immediately starts interviewing the local contractors to help her get this Victorian mansion ready for re-sale. When she meets hot landscaper guy, Silas, and his sweet dog she feels a clinch in her.. heart, a feeling that Silas definitely returns. Has she finally found a place she can call home? Maggie Moves On is sweet, funny, and tugs on your heartstrings and if she hadn’t let Silas finally “catch” her, I would’ve written myself into this story and captured him myself. This was one romance novel where the hero is actually someone I could see myself also falling for, and his dog was the icing on the cake. I loved Maggie and Silas together, but I also loved all of the characters that made up this sweet story. If Kinship Idaho were a real town, this book would have people moving there in droves. I loved the sense of community, the quirky characters, and the love everyone feels for each other. When someone faces adversity the whole town shows up to help them get through that difficult time. Ahhh, I love romance novels and the small towns where their stories reside. It’s hard to pick out a favorite moment in a book that is filled with great moments, but I’d have to say that when Maggie and Silas meet is probably a meet cute that I will never forget. I won’t spoil it for you all, but if if you’re even going to crack this book open, you need to at least read through their first meeting. I bet if you get that far, you’ll keep turning the pages. This story and these characters are pretty irresistible.

Flirty landscaper falls for YouTube house flipper!

I loved this book because of Silas. OMG, he is an expert flirt and I enjoyed all the banter between him and Maggie. There are some great side characters in this small town story. Although the progress of the house flip and the romance between Silas & Maggie is the main plot, there are some wonderful side stories that really help develop the relationships of various characters and connect the reader to the fictional community. This book really made me smile and I flew through the pages, staying up late to finish it in less than 24 hours. Thank you to Forever for the free digital ARC.

    Adorable and funny

I adored this book. Maggie is a home renovator/flipper with a million subscribers to her YouTube show who thinks she will never settle down. Enter Silas, aka Hot Landscaper Guy, who immediately takes to her and charms her pants off. This book is hot, fun, adorable without being cheesy, and even has a mystery subplot. I really loved it and I hope you do too! Thanks to Forever Pub for the copy via NetGalley!

A great well rounded story with romance & humor

A story that involved a Youtuber fixer-upper, moving from different locations to flips houses, a handsome, flirtatious man who screamed, “golden retriever” energy, a cute dog, lighthearted vibes, and all of it to culminate in Lucy Score fashion, YES! YES! And… YES! From the get go Maggie was the type of woman who got down and dirty, was part of every aspect in putting together the dream home of the houses she flipped. In addition, Maggie was so laser focused on her goals that she didn’t let anything get in her way… that is until she met her newest landscaper, Silas. Right from the start, this book was enjoyable and sweet. Not to mention, with Silas’s introduction he didn’t waste any time making his intentions known to Maggie. Meanwhile, Maggie was upfront with the fact that she wasn’t looking for a relationship, especially considering how she was always moving from place to place with her job of flipping houses. Nonetheless, Silas was constantly finding ways to show and tell Maggie just how much he was falling for her. Silas struck me as having “golden retriever” vibes since he never seemed deterred by Maggie’s insistence that she wasn’t looking for a relationship. Silas’s flirty comments and straightforward attitude towards Maggie was refreshing and I don’t think I’ve come across a character such as Silas before, but I’m glad to have read about him *me having a dreamy look imagining Silas lol. That being said, while Silas was a sweet, flirty, laid back guy, he also had a possessive, protective side to him. One that Maggie didn’t appreciate since she was so use to doing things on her own, but again Silas working his charm and magic managed to lower Maggie’s shield. This story not only delivered on the romance, but in true Lucy Score style, presented lovable characters, and a lighthearted story. I do love a small town setting since it shows how united the people in town are and especially in this book it showed that while most of the people were out of jobs, everyone helped one another to get back on their feet by offering jobs wherever possible. In addition, this story also had other subplots going on such as, the mystery behind the original owner of the house Maggie was fixing up that somehow tied into the mystery of a well known robbery that occurred near town many many years ago. The found family trope was part of the story and I loved seeing Maggie create her own “family” so to speak with Silas, Silas’s family, Dean, Cody, etc. For Maggie, always being on the road, she never truly wanted to settle down, she was use to always relying on only herself, but with her meeting Silas, it truly changed her life, and had her meeting special people who she cared about a lot. From mystery, to heartfelt moments, sweet, romantic, and hilarious scenes between Maggie and Silas, this book had it all for me. Overall, from start to finish i fell in love with Maggie and Silas, as well as the other characters. You can never go wrong with Lucy Score’s books and once again this book and their characters will have a place in my heart. The ending was sweet and (sigh) everything about this book went beyond my expectations and I absolutely adored it!

great found family with alpha male romance

Disclaimer: I don't often read contemporary romance, and if I do, it's almost always queer contemporary romance. So in some ways I was expecting this to not be 100% my thing. I received a review copy of this book. In a lot of ways, I absolutely loved this. I'm a sucker for found family, always, and this is a really excellent example of a huge, boisterous, loving, slowly growing found family. It's one of the best examples I've come across recently, in fact, and that part I would absolutely rate 5 stars. Similarly Maggie herself I would give a high rating as she was an excellent main character. Hands-on, not afraid to get dirty, quick to see the potential in things, slow to trust, but with a huge heart, once you get past her walls. My beef is with Silas, the love interest, also known as "Hot Landscaper Guy." He is... confusing. In most ways he is 100% the typical 'alpha male' hero who manhandles, bosses 'his girl' around, is sure he knows what's best for her in all situations, etc. I cannot stand alpha males, hence the lowered rating. The confusing part comes in when he *isn't* being your typical alpha male. He could also be thoughtful, sensitive, emotionally well-adjusted, intelligent, and romantic. Then, at the drop of the hat, alpha male Silas was back. It was weird - almost as if the author were trying to create the 'perfect man' to please every reader. Also, the romance is insta-love and 'fate' and he knows he's gonna marry her from the second he meets her (despite just getting out of a five-year relationship) and he spends the rest of the book attempting to convince her of that when she very much does not want to be convinced. It was very 'I'm right and you're wrong about your life choices so you should just do what I say.' And he would just kiss her into agreeing with him basically. Like he would kiss her and her brain just went right out the window. And he gets all pout-y near the end when he thinks she might actually leave as she’d been planning to all along and he goes off and sulks for a month. The sex scenes were also VERY alpha male and VERY straight and they made me cringe. I rolled my eyes and skimmed past them. I also wished quite a few times that this were a queer romance. Like, pairing Maggie with a 'Hot Landscaper Gal' would have worked SO much better for me. Really, I would have happily taken a male-but-not-an-alpha-male love interest. Or a nonbinary love interest. I did like the queer secondary love story, but it was very much in the background. I really enjoyed seeing the house slowly come together as the whole town pitched in, and I also really really enjoyed the historical mystery and treasure hunt storyline. I should note that people who enjoy the alpha male dynamic will probably really enjoy this story.

    Great Beach Read!

Lucy Score has done it again! Maggie Moves On was just the right combination of romance, small town mystery and comedy rolled into one. The chemistry between Maggie and Silas jumped off the pages. I absolutely loved it and hope to find my own Silas and Kevin combo soon!

    A fun small town rom-com

I had such a fun time reading "Maggie Moves On" by Lucy Score. This is the first of her books that I've read, and it won't be the last. At it's core, it's a small town romance where the guy falls first, hard and fast, and the gal is anti-love and commitment to start. I enjoyed the evolution of both main characters and I was fully bought into their attraction. I loved the home improvement setting, and there were some great subplots with the supporting cast involving family relationships (blood and chosen) and the hidden treasure mystery. If you like meant-to-bes and happily-ever-afters, this is for you. This book was like eating a decadent, giant slice of chocolate cake at the end of a steakhouse dinner. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC, in exchange for this honest review.
