Quilts have always been one of Martha's favorite bed linens because they are prized not only for their beauty but also for their versatility. Steeped in tradition, these unique, hand-sewn quilts are especially crafted with patience and attention to detail. Taking four highly-skilled artisans to create just one quilt, each is a representation of age-old processes and traditions that span generations. The quilts—featuring classic patterns that date back to the 1800s—are pigment printed and then hand-stitched with precision and care to achieve expert results, making them true works of art.

Not quite what the Macy photo seems to show

Macy's photo shows the quilt on a double bed. On a queen-size bed, the quilt comes down to the top of a mattress on the sides and at the foot of the bed, with the quilt ending near the top of the mattress, laid flat. The colors make this quilt quite versatile, but those colors are not separate pieces of fabric in a patchwork quilt style. They are printed colors/patterns on the cream-colored cotton fabric, which are then hand-stitched to look like a patchwork quilt. I recommend buying a cream-colored bed skirt to go from the foundation surface to a bit above the floor. While this purchase was disappointing, relative to what I expected, I have decided to keep it (and the pillow shams).

Beautiful quilt

Beautiful quilt. It has been quite ahwile since I had a quilt with colorful print. I purchased it to use for sprinig and summer. One word of advice. If you have queen mattress and it is not on a low platform frame go up to a king size quilt. I did and I will still need to purchase a bed skirt. My mattress if high and on a bed frame that sits up off of the floor. The full/ queen would have looked way too small. I am so gald that I read the reviews before ordering. Got the shams. Now just need to wait for spring.

Very nice quilt

I ordered a full/queen size quilt, but found I needed a skirt for a queen bed. Be advised that the photo is a full bed not a queen. Also a sham was included in the photos so I took that to mean it came with the quilt. Not so. The shams come separately. Having said these things, I'm happy with the look and quality of the quit; and yes, I ordered two shams.
