Award Winner - Really?
I guess it does not take much to win an award these days. WOW. I purchased the book because of the award and reviews. Returned it the next day. The book opens awkwardly, and then has to be turned around - seemingly to infer the story line from falling to rising. Not much in the way of colorful illustrations to engage the child. Story was okay but not worth a second read. Did nothing for us or the child. At the price of books, I expected more from a book designated an Award Winner.

Leap of Faith
This is an adorable, funny, humorous story about a plucky little bird named Mel. Mel takes a leap pf faith and swan dives out of the tree one day while Mama is away. Down, down, down she falls as a host of tree animals unsuccessfully try to help her. I'm not going to spoil the ending but I can tell you it involves a SPLASH! and a fish. I truly fell for Mel and you will too. To top it off, you'll need to open this book from top to bottom because of it's vertical construction. How fun is that? And as an extra added treat, you'll rotate the book around midway through the story. Talk about clever.

An Instant Classic
My son and I feel in love Corey Tabor's book immediately. We loved his "Snail Crossing" so I picked this up, twisted it, turned it and enjoyed it many times over. So much inspiration packed into the pages and something I've been recommending to friends- even those that don't have children.
