Belt worked in a pinch but quality not as expected

The belt is attractive but is a little longer than I need. Unfortunately the section of the belt that has to pass through the buckle is getting worn looking already. (I have worn it about five times.) The belt is black and the worn areas show the gray leather that is below the surface.
