Decent for the price..

I'm an ultrarunner. I use these shoes as part of my shoe rotation. I typically run my easy days which usually consists of 10+ on the trails. Unless you want blisters on your feet, I would not recommend these shoes to be ran on anything rocky or technical. These are made to be ran on buffed out trails. I could run all day with them on easy trails. These are cheap shoes, so I'm not complaining at all.

Not a running shoe.

I know it's a trail show, but having had other brand trail shoes in the past, they make them at least usable as a trail running shoe. This shoe has the shape and feel of a fashion trainer and reminds me of wearing air max 90s. They cause me to feel as though I'm running off my heels instead of my toes and put a great deal of strain on my knees. Do not buy if you are even a remotely serious runner as you will end up with a fancy pair of dog walking shoes like I have.

Finally a trail runner in 4E width, good for dry rocky trail

This is the first shoe that I've worn that lets me hike without knee braces. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and need the 4E width. These shoes has a neutral footbed that works well for me after putting in a low profile orthotic. It has a low profile which gives my foot more room in the toe box. The shoe is stable and has good grip on the Rocky, dry trails in AZ. I'd have given 5 stars, except for 2 issues. The toe box is too narrow, instead of foot shaped. I had to change the lacing pattern to make it wearable, but it's not as comfortable as shoes I have that are significantly wider in the toe box relative to the rear on the shoe. Also, it isn't zero drop from heel to toe, which makes it a little more difficult to walk on level ground and downhill.

Mostly negative for nitrel v3

I am a 15 year long dedicated trail competitor and new balane loyalist. I have put about 150 miles of trail running on the Nitrel V3 Outsole compound definitely lacks grip with any amount of moisture. Feels like ice skates on a 100 yard stretch of wet asphalt. The lugs are shallow. The concept of a ""commuter shoe"" for those that run the road and trail. The shoe lacks ground contact feel. Possible higher than 18mm forefoot stack? Would not buy again mostly due to outsole is so unreliable. The fit is stiff and the upper made of a material that is very rigid. Durability seems good so far. Lacing system not good. Second worst pair of new balance in 15+ years but I still give a 5 or 6. The midsole not very soft but some decent energy return. Finished top 5 in these in a recent event with 20 mile break in. Felt ok but don't like the loss of the ground feel. Would only wear on dry days. Should have went with the summit unknown for a good racing shoe. I also got the nitrel fuel core v2 and they are lighter and feel faster than these with better ground contact feel.
