Suffered very severe ankle sprain from wearing this shoe
I bought this shoe after having trained for months for a weekend tournament with my local parish basketball team. As the tournament neared, I decided to purchase a beginner's Nike shoe online, and bought the Fly By Low ii, size 9. For a year before this purchase, I had also been training to go on a hiking trek for Boy Scouts. As it is 63 miles long and in the mountains of New Mexico, I had kept myself healthy and well trained to handle the challenge. I was on track to land on target in New Mexico in the middle of July when I decided to play basketball with my tournament-worthy Nike Fly By Low ii's -- a grave mistake. The shoe crams the toes near the top of the shoe and the heel doesn't do a very good job of providing support throughout the crest and the middle of the foot, affecting the ankle and the ball of the foot very much. Albeit my flat feet had hurt in the shoe, I allowed it thinking that this was normal after playing for a long period of time, as they weren't meant to be comfortable for walking but rather durable for playing. I instead found out the hard way that the pain I felt regularly at the ball of my feet had been because of a lack of support at the back end of the shoe, and an extreme squeeze into the front of the foot. This left the ankle extremely unsupported. I jump stopped while practicing and twisted my left ankle and heard my ligaments tear as I went down. What ensued was hours in the Emergency Room, thousands of dollars of medical bills, and a rush to try to get my ankle into shape for the upcoming trip to New Mexico. The sprain happened on June 9th, and the trip embarks on July 11th. I do NOT recommend this shoe for anybody just beginning basketball, especially not if you're to use this shoe on an indoor court. This shoe just maximizes the risk of getting injured, and doesn't help with speed, your jumpshot, or even foot work. This shoe is especially not comfortable as tying the laces only squeezes the front and isolates the ankle even more. Again, I do not recommend this shoe and hope nobody purchases this and risks an injury. Please see attached video.
