Beautiful Book

The book Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg by Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik is like a scrapbook and a beautiful autobiography joined together and came to life. The mix of photos, information, and storytelling is woven together to create a notorious book about a truly notorious woman. This book is about the amazing achievements in Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life and so does not go into some of the mistakes she made along the way. This is ok as long as the reader is aware of the bias of the authors. The book is a challenging read as it does jump around between stories, however, I got around this by reading one story or section per sitting. This made the book last longer and let the information sink in better. The book is packed with interesting tidbits about RBG’s life and her accomplishments throughout her whole career, not just her time on the Supreme Court. If you are looking to learn more about RBG and see her story through the years, this is the read for you.

I learned so much

“‘In my life, what I find most satisfying is that I was a part of a movement that made life better, not just for women,’ RBG says. ‘I think gender discrimination is bad for everyone, it’s bad for men, it’s bad for children. Having the opportunity to be part of that change is tremendously satisfying. Think of how the Constitution begins. ‘We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect union.’ But we’re still striving for that more perfect union. And one of the perfections is for the ‘we the people’ to include an ever enlarged group.’ This expansion has been RBG’s life’s work. And it’s not over yet.” Notorious RBG by Irin Carmo and Shana Knizhnik, is a wonderful biography of Justice Ruth Bater Ginsberg. It is a quick, easy read, but filled with information about RBG from her childhood too late in life. I learned many things about her and her work that I did not know and found her to be even more fascinating than I realized. I give the book a million hearts and would definitely recommend it.
