Asymetrical cut for off shoulder look. Not for me

I love draped, cowl, and boatneck tops, but this one has a unique cut that is not for me The left shoulder top line is shorter than the right. There is a fold of fabric under the top of the left arm hole, and there is a dart in the back under the left shoulder blade. So unlike the picture, the piece appears to be made to drop the left side over the left shoulder. That's why the piece looks pulled/skewed on the model in the picture. For the piece to hang without the funny fold across the chest that runs from the right to the left (shown in the stock picture), you have to drop the shoulder. In addition the fabric is velvet, but it is shiny, not light-absorbing. It is stretchy, which adds to the feeling that the piece is skewed, almost like it was cut off-grain, but it wasn't. I think they intended this cut. I'm surprised that they don't show it in the stock pix.
