Would like another ring that wi fit me and return

I really like the ring very much. But when I cut the tag the ring was attached to it was too big. I usually wear a 7 but trying it on in the store when it is attached It fit tighter. Can I return it for a smaller size. I bought a ring w 2 weeks before size 7 and it fit.
