Run smaller than they used to - had to size up

These shirts run smaller than in previous years. I could always safely buy my husband a 3XB with no issues. Ordered in 3XB and they no longer fit - tight across the shoulders and belly. (He's lost weight since we last ordered so he's not the issue.) Re-ordered in a 4XB and they were perfect. Cotton fabric also seemed a bit thinner. Disappointed, but I guess that's a sign of the times.
