For fans of Kiss Number 8 and On a Sunbeam, this debut graphic novel is a fast-paced time travel adventure with a hint of romance that has garnered 1.5 million views as a Tapas webcomic. Ren Mittal's last memory in the year 1996 is getting on a bus to visit his mystery pen pal Georgia. When he wakes up in 2122, he thinks he might be hallucinating… he's not! Tech conglomerate Chronotech sponsors a time-travel program to help students in 2122 learn what history was really like… from real-life subjects who've been transported into the future… and Ren is one of them. In 2122, Ren's life in the 1990s is practically ancient history - and Ren's not sure how to feel about that. On top of it all, he learns that his memory will be wiped of all things 2122 before he's sent back to the 90s. Adding to Ren's complicated feels, he's forming a crush on his student guide, Mars.

Good, just not great

Good book and would absolutely reccomend. I loved the art style, characters, and concept. The storyline felt a bit rushed and unpolished, more like something you’d read on webtoon than an actual graphic novel. It also felt a bit childish, which isn’t necessarily a problem just not everyone’s thing. Overall, it got 4 stars just because i font think it was perfect enough to warrant a five. Still enjoyed and felt it was a worthwhile read!

Loved this graphic novel!

A fantastical romp into a world of future tech, corrupt government, and unexpectedly finding a family to belong to. I’m a huge fan of Everina Maxwell and the plot, pacing, and tone of this graphic novel reads a lot like her books - full of futuristic sci-fi worlds and shady companies with questionable ethics. This book is also diverse and full of fantastic representation of LGBTQ+ Non-binary, and disabled characters! I was a fan of this comic way back in the webtoon days and finding it again now was such a wonderful surprise and I must say, for anyone who had an interest in Project Nought back in the day, come back! It has changed in all the best ways to deliver a much more poignant story and kept the hearts of the characters that pulled us in from the beginning! This graphic novel packs so much into its pages; managing to not only give depth and heart into the characters, but also weaving together a darker and more complex plot with multiple layers. I was absolutely impressed with the plot twists and turns that were executed in graphic novel format. I tend to find that graphic novels focus more on the imagery and less on the underlying plot. Honestly I think this is the first book of its format that I have found to have a very well constructed and well paced plot line. I also absolutely adored the underlying current of deeper themes and questions such as what it means to be a human, the question of ethics in science, and the angst of accepting who you are - all interlaced with action and, of course, an endearing romance.

So intriguing!

Thanks you Netgalley and Harper Collins Children Books for this eARC, these opinions are my own. I really like what Chelsey Furedi did with this graphic novel! Ren runs away from home and while on his travels falls, he wakes up in the future. The Chronotech Company has found a way to use time travel to bring people from the past to the future. There young people are paired with the time traveled to learn history from them after five months they are returned to their time line exactly where they left it. Ren is paired with Mars whose friend Jai doesn’t trust the company. She to once had a time traveled friend who she knows died but Chronotech swears returned to her own time. Together the three of them with a few friends will figure out what is going on. Is Chronotech telling the truth? I liked all of the characters in the book! I also liked the idea of people from the past coming to the future, it makes you wonder what information from history they could provide! I also liked the illustrations they were wonderfully done! Highly recommend for those who love Sci-if especially if you like your sci-fi with LGBTQA+ characters!

Fun Characters with a clever and rich story!

★★★★★ 5 Stars for Project Nought! This graphic novel was everything I love all-in-one. We have Ren who is struggling in his everyday life and is suddenly plucked from it and thrown in to the far future where he has to adapt to so many new and different things around him. The characters are all so wonderful; I found myself laughing at Phoebe's antics and expressions- she's an amazing friend that you definitely want on your team! And Mars is so adorable and enthusiastic, he was a real breath of fresh air for Ren in a way too confusing world/situation. I think the plot is really strong. I believe this could have been expanded on to make more than one book but for only being the one it did a good job of bringing everything full circle. When you're dealing with something like Time Travel and future tech it can be difficult to write a story that is easy enough for readers to follow but also not so simplified that it feels "unrealistic" in a way. I think everything was explained well and the pacing was done properly to fit so much in. I really loved this one; its just a shame I'll have to wait so long to own it physically in my hands! But im definitely preordering and recommending this to anyone curious about it! If you like time travel, futuristic tales, an MC whos coming out of their shell when faced with a difficult time, and side characters/additional characters you'll easily love then this is definitely the graphic novel for you!
