problem with gift

I had this dress mailed to my friend to wear for a special event. She tried it in and it fit and was beautiful but she couldn’t wear it because the electronic anti-theft device was still on the garment! I got the dress back and had to go to Macy’s to get the tag removed and take the dress back to my friend. Customer Service said if I paid with a Macy’s card, my friend could receive a gift card for inconvenience. I use my bank card for the hundreds of purchases I have made. Yet there’s no offer for customers that don’t use Macy’s? Seems very unfair. Both purchaser and recipient were inconvenienced and have physical difficulty. Very sad customer service policy.
