A fun start
Although I would not consider myself a “hard-core” fan of fantasy or science fiction, I do enjoy both genres when the story is told well. This one takes the classic trope of star-crossed lovers and moves it into outer space, complete with robot royalty, bounty hunters, ghost babysitters, ex-fiancées, and intrusive grandparents. I have a feeling this is the beginning of a pretty wild ride.

Baby vs. bounty hunters.
I'm not really sure what to say about Saga except brilliant. The world building is fantastic, It's like every detail was plotted out and every piece of information was given, or not given, at the exact right time. The characters are amazing, realistic, and witty, (even the morally-grey/bad guys). This isn't for the faint hearted though, there are some scenes that involve entrails, multiple blow-up heads, and a place called Sextillion, which I don't think need much of an explanation. And the art is so good, the gently drawn backgrounds really make the characters pop. And I swear, in almost all of her scenes, Alana is the spitting image of Halle Berry, not joking. Saga is a wild ride that I can't wait to carry on the journey in the following volumes.
