An easy to use and quite microwave oven.
I am comparing this to the 18 year old Amana Microwave it replaced, so the bar is set high. I have been using it for about 2 months. On the plus side, this unit is SO much quieter, barely a whisper. I questioned if the fan was working as the top surface of the unit became hotter that I was used to. A visual inspection from the rear confirmed the fan was indeed working. Could Sharp have increased the fan speed with a little more noise to keep things cooler? Using the unit is easy, especially the single key stroke "add 30 second feature" on the start key. Keys 1-6 are that many minutes, also instant start. Too bad 7-9 could not be user programmable or set to something other than 30 seconds, like 10 or 45 seconds. They work when setting the cook time et al. There is a "memory" function initiated by the Zero key, but when we had a one second power blip it forgot everything. I have not done much with the programmed keys except to soften butter. Not sure how Sharp determined what size of the object to be heated using the presets. I need a video demonstrating these features. The one downside is the internal lighting. This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The light comes on when the oven is in use or the door is opened, just like my old Amana, which is good. My issues are, 1- the dark interior does not reflect the light, and 2- more importantly, is the back right corner of the oven is always in the dark, no light hitting it. Yet when the door when open the door is well lit. The placement of the light needs adjusted so the all of the interior is luminated. No reason to shine on the open door. I am satisfied with the SMC1464HS unit, it is a keeper. Will I get 18 years out of it? That might outlast me.

Good basic microwave. So far so good
More uniform heating than my prior microwave. Was not aware that the interior dimension was approximately inch into an inch and a half smaller than my prior microwave of the same strength/volume. I do miss a custom defrost option based on my inputted weight rather than the pre-programmed weights. Quiet when operating.

Great Product
Very nice Microwave. Only suggestion is reducing the loud noise when closing the door. Could use some sort of rubber cushion to dampen the loud slam noise.

Love this oven. Operation manual needs improvement
Got this Sharp Carousel countertop microwave as a gift. It replaced another Sharp microwave of similar dimensions/power that was at least 30 years old and still working fine. The new inverter technology definitely allows this version to cook/reheat items better. My absolute favorite preset is the sensor reheat. Reheated meals, no matter whether they go in at room temperature or cold from the refrigerator come out at a perfect temperature and not burned or overcooked. The defrost function also works better than the old oven which would sometimes start to cook portions of the food while other parts were still frozen. That doesn't happen with the new one. The popcorn preset works well but you definitely have to monitor the popping carefully and stop the popping immediately when the popping slows down. If you do this you will get perfect popcorn. If you don't you will get scorched popcorn. The melt/soften preset leaves something to be desired especially when trying to soften butter. There are better ways to soften butter (set the power level to 10% and microwave for a minute or two). The extensive operation manual needs improvement. It takes a lot of reading and rereading. Parts of it are quite confusing and sometimes downright contradictory. I still on occasion take it out and reread about a certain function usually coming away with an improved understanding. All in all I am absolutely delighted with this microwave. I give it five out of five stars. I give the instruction manual 2 1/2 stars.

Great countertop microwave!
I was given this microwave as a gift. It is replacing an almost identical Sharp microwave that I have had for over 30 years (which is still going strong. I just set it out on the curb with a free sign on it so someone else could continue to use it). The new inverter technology is great! For instance it does things like defrost chicken without cooking it in spots (One of the many preset buttons). Another preset is called sensor reheat and it does so without having what you are reheating be scalding hot around the edge of the dish while still cold in the center. It has all the usual microwave functions like beverage, frozen entrée, potato, time cook, express cook, a kitchen timer, etc. If this one lasts as long as the previous one, it will outlast me! I could not be happier with this Microwave!
