Poorly written

Considering the hype I was incredibly disappointed. It was a lot like reality TV in that it felt forced as heck. The author built up these characters treating their personalities as absolutes then would have them flip flop when ever it suited how she wanted to advance the story or simply to try and create intrigue or turmoil. Rather than organically unfolding the story the author constantly resorted to flashbacks to make a story twist she wanted to have happen make sense which often they still didn't, given contextually with the rest of what was written. Many plot points contradict things that were previously stated or implied about characters and events. Her descriptions are as basic as basic could be repeatedly to the point of nauseum. She misses fine opportunities like when a characters "stomache was in knots" which is an all too common turn of phrase she could have made it Grishaverse by indicating the character felt as though not even a heartrender could untagle the contortions she felt her stomache going through. Reading this was like reading a high schoolers really good concept that they just didn't feel like going back and reviewing to make sure everything worked and flowed properly before submitting.
