Why still offer these DEFECTIVE shoes?

I was skeptical about buying these shoes for my 7 yr. old grandson. Skeptical because of the MANY reviews stating that the lights, on one shoe, stop working after a few wears. Well, my skepticism was spot on! The exact thing happened to my grandson's shoes! Why were these shoes still being offered to customers when it was PAINFULLY OBVIOUS, these shoes are defective? I really wanted to return the DEFECTIVE shoes, but, my grandson still wanted to keep them, in spite of his GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT! It seems Macy's and Skechers have a take it or leave it approach with their customers, now.
