8W we're too tight in ankle

I have suede Skechers ankle boots that I love in size 8 but are slightly tight in the ankle area when I wear a thick sock. So I bought these in a wide width. The footbed is perfect, but they are more narrow in the ankle than the others were in medium width. They cut into the front part of my shin when sitting. I had to return them.
