Raina Telgemeier's #1 New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award-winning graphic memoir based on her childhood. Raina just wants to be a normal sixth grader. But one night after Girl Scouts she trips and falls, severely injuring her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on-again, off-again braces, surgery, embarrassing headgear, and even a retainer with fake teeth attached. And on top of all that, there's still more to deal with- a major earthquake, boy confusion, and friends who turn out to be not so friendly.

THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this book, and immediately started reading! It was SO SO good! I had also gotten braces a few months ago so I could relate to the characters! If you like this book, you should read Guts and Sisters, by the same author, Raina Telgemeier

Great book - but some not for 8 - 12 year olds.

I like the concept of this book, however, I do not agree with it being for 8 - 12 year olds, as the age range suggests. After reading the book, my 10-year old asked me what "Spin the Bottle" was, as in the book, it portrayed the author as a teenager playing spin the bottle and then kissing a boy (which was interracial also). While this may be alright for some parents, I do not believe this is appropriate for a elementary/middle school student. I tore those pages out of the book, so that my daughter can enjoy the rest, but parents beware.
