SACD
It took a while to figure out how to send the higher resolution of SACD to my stereo and be able to see the selections I was making. It would be nice to have more display info on the DVD player itself, I could drop the TV out of the mix. I would LOVE if the display also would show the resolution of the music being played.

DOA UBP-X800M2 Blue-Ray Player
Arrived DOA (Dead-On-Arrival) and SONY refused to warranty repair or exchange it. None of it's functions worked. After many phone calls and emails with SONY, they said it was not sold to me through an authorized SONY dealer. The "repair shop" they referred me to, said they do NOT repair Blue-ray disc players, that they only exchange them, and would not exchange mine. I am now left with a WORTHLESS disc player. [WARNING] - Before ordering a SONY product through your credit union's VISA "Rewards" program (as I did), make sure that the shipper is an authorized SONY retailer!

Comes up Short
This product is a disappointment. Frequently fails to read DVDs correctly, resulting in incorrect aspect ratio. Also sometimes displays captions when not wanted. I’ve gone over operating instructions and updated repeatedly. The malfunctions are chronic.

Top Quality machine
We have been after a 4K Blu-Ray player for some time to rplace our elderly but still functional, UBP-H1 machine. This didn't disappoint. Very sharp 4K picture from standard Blu ray, even better than our previous machine and that was also a well regarded player. and as for 4K discs, very good indeed. The only small caveat is the need to switch to Dolby Vision manually, but we already knew this. As the player is now at a great price, please don't hesitate to buy it while it is still in production

Sony UBP-X800M2 punches above it's weight.
Totally amazing picture once I finally realised that I learnt how to set the picture settings. Apparently, too much playing around with settings and starting from scratch with help, the sound & picture quality is on a different level. Sony UBP-X800M2 punches above it's weight.

Occasionally freezes
Occasionally freezes with green light in the front indicating it it’s on and doesn’t allow to turn off. Have to unplug it.
