Invisible hands

I really wanted to love this clock. The size, the style and the colors were just what I was looking for. The only con was the color of the hands, they are gold. In the photos it looks fine. In my home with the vintage background they are invisible. Such a shame. If I can't find a replacement I like as much I'll try painting the hands black and cross my fingers I don't do any damage to the hands.
