Great Story Complimented by Amazing Art

Such a cute story only lifted by the great art with great utilization of color. I was gifted this book by my SIL, and she made fun of me for liking "the darkest" possible character in the adorable lil love story. All the characters were great, though, and I deeply appreciated the happy ending I didn't think we were going to get.

A sweet, short, romantic story about GHOSTS?!

Taproot was a wonderful book to read, its premise is about Hamal, who loves nature and works at a garden shop, but he is the only one who can talk to GHOSTS!! Its a heartwarming and hopeful story about death and life, and while being quite short it’s definitely worth it!

Sweet and hopeful and great for readers of any age

Taproot is the story of a ghost and a gardener whose experiences inadvertently teach them more about life and death than either of them could ever have imagined. I really enjoyed Taproot; it made me feel things while keeping me entertained and invested and the characters were very easy to care about and sympathize with. I do wish that we’d gotten some more backstory though, because by the early parts of the climax I felt like I’d missed out on one of the crucial causes of the central problem. Taproot is a great standalone (that’s all it is, as far as I am aware), but I think it definitely has series potential and the events of this book are set up perfectly for more installments. I know I say this about most of the graphic novels I read and I mean it every single time: Taproot would make an excellent cartoon. It’s excellent for readers of nearly any age and I would definitely recommend it to fans of Over the Garden Wall and Craig of the Creek. Thanks to NetGalley and One Press for sending me a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. Taproot is now available at your local libraries and for sale at major book retailers.

A surprisingly soft story about necromancy

A very lovely and sweet story about a necromancer gardener and his ghostly boyfriend and their gaggle of plants and ghostly friends. No need to worry about an unhappy ending though! A different take on necromancy and reapers from what I usually come across and I love it. Thank you to NetGalley for making this available in exchange for an honest review!
