Great read!
Nina Redmond has a knack for matching everyone to the right book so when she loses her job as a librarian, she decides to take a chance when she finds a van and wants to turn it into a mobile book store. She'll move to Kirrinfief, Scotland to hopefully make her dream a reality. This delightful book has been on my radar and I'm so glad to have finally read it! Nina is a wonderfully written character as are her best friend Surinder and new friends in Scotland. The Bookshop on the Corner should be on every book lovers TBR list! Thanks to BookClubGirls and their Free Friday giveaways through NetGalley for this book. It took me a while to get to it but it was worth the wait!

Gorgeous Scotland
Nina's only love is books. Her life revolves around them. When the library she works at is forced to close Nina is unsure of what to do. After attending a workshop, she comes up with the idea of a mobile bookstore. (Finally all of the books she had been hoarding from the library closure would come in handy!) When Nina finds the perfect van for the job she travels from Birmingham up to Scotland to see it. Nina arrives in the small village and immediately begins to fall in love with the beauty of the place and the idea of starting life anew. With nothing left for her in Birmingham she decides to risk everything and set up her bookmobile right here in Scotland. Nina soon realizes that the villagers need her just as much as she needs this new change of scenery. Nina's bookmobile and the idea of spending all day surrounded by stories is a book lover's dream. "The Bookshop on the Corner" by author Jenny Colgan is the first in a series of books that takes place in picturesque Scotland. With not being able to travel right now stories that can take us to gorgeous places like this are just what we need. Give this one a try if you are looking for a feel good read.

A book about books
I rather enjoyed this tale of taking risks with some romance thrown in along with some beautiful Scottish scenery. Nina has been working at the city library for years when cuts come along, and her job is eliminated. Nina takes a chance to pursue her dream of opening a bookstore. Discovering that she can’t afford to rent a building, she decides to take her dream mobile and ends up with a former bread delivery van that she transforms into a bookmobile. Nina ends up in Scotland, lucks into a great place to live, and some finds herself getting incorporated into the town life. I enjoyed some funny moments for her as she discovers how delicious food can be in this area, along with the quarterly highland dances. There are a few bumps along the road with her romance, but she ultimately ends up with the right man! She prides herself on finding the right book for everyone and her toddler story times are booming. Will Nina find her happily ever after or should she go back to the city? I was excited to see that this is #1 in a series and I will clearly seek out the next two because this one was such fun.

Fun Book that Touches Your Heart
I first picked up this book because I wanted to read something other than mysteries. It sat on my shelf for a while because I just wanted to read mysteries. Then I realized something. Mysteries get my adrenaline going, and often I am thinking about some universal truth by the end of it. However, I wasn't reaching my deep-down emotions often. When you're reading a mysteries, you can push aside deep emotions and replace it with adrenaline. However, in a regular fiction book, it's not as easy. You have a character and plot that follows more closely to life. And if you find a well-written story from a great author like Jenny Colgan, you can enjoy reading about life. Nina Redmond has been working as a librarian for years. But budget cuts relieved many librarians of their jobs. At a professional development session to prepare the librarians for a job as a social media/technology-driven library, Nina comes up with an idea. She wants to start a bookstore. Just a little one. As she prepares for this bookstore, she takes all the leftover library books to sell in her store. But she doesn't want to deal with the business aspect of leasing a building. So, she decides to buy a big van. The van is located in Kirrinfief, Scotland. After a time trying to buy the van, she decides to take it back to her home in London. However, permits and strained roommate relations cause her to rethink her plan. She heads to place she bought the van--Kirrinfief, a town with readers but no books. After she finds a place to rent, she continually runs into her cranky landlord and a romantic train conductor. Will she be able to find true love the way book characters find love? Or will she be left with only her books from this day forward? Jenny Colgan writes in a compelling style that brings tears and smiles. I was nervous about reading a book that doesn't have a set plot like a mystery. However, Jenny changed my mind about regular fiction. This romantic fiction is filled with bright characters, who I look forward to seeing again in the other books in this series. The cultural aspect of Kirrinfief was enchanting. The traditions and family-feel of the town make me want to visit. Although there were small steamy parts in the book, Jenny masterfully glosses over things that would make some readers uncomfortable. If you want to appeal to your emotions for a change, pick up The Bookshop on the Corner.

Sweet Bookshop
I’ve just returned from a delightful journey to a tiny village in Scotland. Well, thanks to Jenny Colgan I got to travel there in my mind and, yes, in my heart as well. To say this book is wonderful is not enough. It is the sweet, gentle, heroic, ordinary, heartbreaking, happy, and lovely adventure of a young woman who loves books. The ending was predictable but I still looked forward to what I knew was going to happen. Some books must end with a ‘happily ever after’ and this was definitely one of those, so, if you are not interested in romance and happy endings then you are reading the wrong book but if you enjoy the journey to the happy ending then you are reading the right book. The characters were interesting and very diverse and very well written. Even the one who, well I’m not going to tell you, but even the one I shouldn’t have liked I couldn’t help but like anyway. I loved the characters in this book and I look forward to reading the next book in the series to find out what happens next. This was not a great huge epic of a book but it was the book that carried me away and right now we all could use a little of that magic. Thank you to The Book Club Girls, NetGalley, William Morrow HarperCollins Publishers and the author Jenny Colgan.
