Under False Criticism
I have had this book for a couple of years now and I think that it is great. I am writing a research paper and am using this book for more than 1/2 of the paper. I wanted to know the author so I came to this site. Out of curiosity, I looked at the reviews and it was very funny to me that a reviewer (under the clever pen name Publius), said that in the Bill of Rights the 2nd and 4th amendments are out of order. I am assuming that they are speaking of the bill of rights on page 759(It is in multiple places). Either they did not read the introduction, or they do not know the amendments. As an 8th grader I am aware that the second amendment is the right to bear arms. On page 816 the heading for the right to bear arms is Amendment II. On page 759 as part of the Bill of Rights, the heading for the right to bear arms is article IV(4). So if Publius knows that the second amendment is the right to bear arms, then they did not read the introduction. The introduction reads," The following twelve amendments to the Constitution were proposed to Congress on September 25,1789. Articles III through XII(12) were ratified on December 15,1791, to become the Bill of Rights." Meaning that Article 4 was Amendment 2. Another critique of Publius is that there were at least 4 mistakes in a 823 pages book. These words are also in old English and Latin. For Publius to say that this is a perfect example of the editor not doing their job is rude, false, and condescending. Publius should be ashamed of themselves. Overall I think it is a great book( I am currently reading the Federalist Papers and it is very easy to annotate on paper.)

Looks pretty but is a terrible referencebook.
There are multiple typos in the first 10 pages of the book. e.g. Pg IX (The first page of the introduction.) First Paragraph: "... gave rise to the laws by which American is still governed today." Pg 8 Top Paragraph "The shutting up of the eourts..." Pg 8 "...ipse facto..." should be "ipso facto." and, as others have said, the second and fourth amendment are switched in the Bill of Rights. These are all typos I spotted in my first 30 minutes of reading, and I probably missed some since I wasn't trying to proofread. This book is the epitome of the editor not doing his job. Don't get this book if you actually care about the contents.
