Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him, as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination. It's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers.

Touched my heart beautifully

Whether you believe in heaven or not, I think this book is such a beautiful reminder of life. I cannot say enough, but this book made me view life differently. I think the lesson for me is to make something out of your life while you are still alive.

Great Life lesson

I read this book in 3 days. It was so good I immediately started reading second book. The Next person you meet in Heaven. It helps you understand that we all have a purpose on Earth.

Favorite book ever read!

This was a book I was forced to read in school and thank god because of it. This is easily my favorite book and I've already re-read it twice and now I'm forcing my Grandma to read it. The plot twist and connections are insane and I feel like every time I go back I notice another little detail I hadn't seen before that put the thought and effort behind this story into perspective. It's a relatively short read with its ups and downs and I will preach about how much I love it until I die!

Must Read, Seriously

I don't review books, but I feel I am doing people a disservice by not letting them know about this book. This book is a 10/10! My recommendation is to read this book on a road trip through Canada while listening to a sad music playlist on Spotify with a box of tissues and a cool breeze providing ample fresh air. God really set the tone for me to read this, and I was not disappointed. I sobbed and had to close the book a few times. I really have never had such a reaction to a book, I felt altered after reading it. I plan on consuming the rest of Mitch Albom's books and hope to feel half as touched.

Every person matters, every decision transcends

No one knows for sure what we will find when we die. Mitch Albom offers in this book, with a friendly style that captures the reader from the beginning, an intuitive proposal and quite close to our nature as transcendent people. It makes it clear that the life of no human being is useless and it is fascinating to reflect on how we influence others with our actions, which may even be irrelevant to us. Regardless of the reality that we find in the afterlife, this reading helps us to reflect on the meaning of our existence and on each opportunity that is offered to us to fulfil it.
