4 stars 0 peppers Ally is a fixer. After a run in with an ex-boyfriend Ally and her friends realise that she fixed all of her exes. She gave them the support and motivation needed to reach their own goals and be happy with their lives. So Ally and her coworkers/friends start a service encouraging the men in their clients lives to improve themselves. It might be motivating them to pursue a different career, giving them the confidence needed to embrace being a stay at home dad, or making them realise that their partner really wants to get married despite already having a home and kids together. Thing are going well until a celebrity influencer wants to hire them to fix her boyfriend. Who just happens to be Ally’s estranged childhood best friend. I loved this book. There was zero spice, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I related to Ally’s need to try and fix everything and have a plan and trying to be content with her life when things really weren’t going how she wanted. Ally and her friends were hilarious. I loved their banter and how they supported each other. I loved Dylan for working so hard to perfect a product he and his friends could be proud of. It broke my heart that he felt he couldn’t be himself, that he always needed to change to be the perfect partner. I dreaded the inevitable climax because I didn’t want anyone to be hurt. But I loved how it was resolved. I can’t tell you how surprised I was that Ally was Greek. First of all I have never read a book where the main character was Greek, outside of mythology retellings. Seeing yiayia in a book was pretty surreal and I loved it. Especially since she reminded me so much of my own yiayia.

Pretty Good Time!
3.5 stars rounded up This is a contemporary romance from the perspective of Aly, who seems stuck in life and can’t seem to move up or forward in any aspect of her life, from work, friends, and especially her old boyfriends who all seem to go on and have success in life and love after she has helped them out. So, she decides to use her talents at giving men the little push they need in the right direction and make a little money at the same time. I mean what could go wrong. Ok, while reading this book I got a lot of Failure to Launch with Sarah Jessica Parker vibes from it. I liked Aly’s friends and side characters; they were a lot of fun. For Aly I just wanted her to step up the whole time in her job and life and she was so back and forth the whole story and helping other people and I was like why can't you do that for yourself! There were some laughable moments, but the story was just fine but nothing spectacular. The love interest, he did several things, especially in relationships just did not make sense to me and drove me crazy, like why would you do that! There was just a ton of miscommunication between them throughout the story, which is not a favorite device in books for me. While this is a romance, it is PG rated so if you are looking for something a bit spicier, it is not in this book. I did have a pretty good time while reading it, it was easy to follow and was a fine rom-com type of story. If that is what you're looking for I would definitely recommend checking this book out. I received this advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.

A Rom-Com That Resonates
I can't remember the last time a book, especially a rom-com, resonated quite so much as "The Fixer Upper." This book had a slow start for me but it was absolutely worth powering through. As soon as Aly and Dylan reconnected, I was hooked (at about a quarter of the way through). In some ways, this rom-com is unlike any romance I've ever read before. It's a bit bittersweet, it's feminist. It doesn't follow the traditional romance arc while still having some wonderful tropes. And it is all the better for it. I have a hard time imagining any millennial woman not being able to relate to this book on some level, hetero or not. We have a long, long, way to go in terms of equality, and reading this book was a validating balm to my heart. This book had some fabulous lines, witty dialogue, and wonderful relationships across the side characters, coworkers, friends, and family. I really adored everything about this one. Highly recommend it for fans of Beth O'Leery, Alexa Martin, Alyssa Rae, Meg Cabot, and contemporary rom-coms. I cannot wait to see what Lauren Forsythe does next.

Interesting Business Idea
I loved the idea of a group of people who can help someone to get their act together. Sometimes, people just need a little push. The characters are likeable and I slowly warmed up to Dylan; I liked Aly from the start. I laughed a lot through this one. I loved the Aly was smart when it came to business decisions but was less confident about her value in her work environment. This story helped me remember two things: don’t try to change people, and always stand up for yourself. The five things to be grateful for is something I may incorporate into my daily life (if I remember – I’m terrible at remembering). Highly recommended for a vacation read or when you need a pick me up.

Delightful and charming
The Fixer Upper by Lauren Forsythe is not a book about fixing homes (as I thought when I received this book) but about fixing people. And fixing people is much more fun than fixing homes. Aly is a fixer. For her whole life, she’s been fixing people. Her parent's marriage, her friends, her neighbors, and her co-workers. She knows what people need and she has a way that makes them see what they need. But, the only person Aly can’t fix, is herself. There is a love triangle, I thought the author handled it well, but it may put some readers off and I can understand that. Also, the whole fixing people is basically manipulating people and although it's done with humor, and good intentions and the characters learn a lesson from it, it still may put some readers off. I just decided I would go with it and I enjoyed the banter, the friendships, and the romance. I enjoyed this book very much and it moved quickly. I enjoyed the humor in the book and I liked most of the characters. I liked Aly’s toughness and her ability to make quick decisions. Although the romance was more of a side plot than the main theme of the book, I did enjoy the romance, once it got going. I really liked her relationships with her friends, they totally understand each other and support each other. I liked their unconditional love for each other, and how when one would make a mistake, they were able to forgive each other. I recommend The Fixer Upper to anyone who enjoys women’s fiction. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Quick Read
I liked this one, good banter, perfect British humor, but I get really frustrated with characters who don't/can't/won't communicate. It makes for a frustrating read, especially when half the time I'm thinking JUST SAY SOMETHING.

Deep emotion
Aly goes to work as a consultant to app developer Dylan. But she's keeping secrets: (1) Dylan doesn't know his social-media-star girlfriend actually hired Aly to make Dylan more Instagram-ready; and (2) the girlfriend doesn't know Dylan is Aly's ex-best-friend and first love. Can Aly turn him into the perfect man—when he's already perfect for her? Aly and Dylan have a complicated relationship. While this book mostly has a light tone, there's deep emotion behind it. Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
