A Culinary Tour of SCotland

A wonderful book full of history, stories, photos, and fantastic recipes. The author is a gem! I had a question on a recipe, emailed him and got a prompt response that clarified an ingredient. For Burns Night, I made the Whisky Sauce and it was a hit. For a living history event involving Scottish immigration to America, I made the oatcakes. I made 10 dozen (cut them in 2" rounds) and by the end of the weekend, I had only half a dozen left!

The Hebridean Baker

This is a beautiful book; the writing, pictures, and recipes are inspiring and make me think of the Scottish home of my father. Dad was born on the Isle of Skye and Macleod,s pictures do show a side of Scottish life. I have another Scot,s cookbook that has some of the similar recipes that our family has enjoyed. I haven't made anything yet from this book but am eager to do so. The one disappointment is the measurements are metric, but there is a conversion chart to use. I told my daughter about this book and she is eager to see and read it while she visits soon. My daughter said she has a scale she uses to measure ingredients for baking that has metric measurements as some in her family have food issues.

Love this book!

Purchased this book for two reasons: one: a purchase gave you an entry to win a trip to Scotland, and two: the recipes looked terrific. I have not made any of the recipes yet, but just sitting down to read through the book with a cup of tea was so relaxing. Macleod's writing and descriptions of the Scottish Hebrides is wonderful.
