Lovely romantasy!
Prince Hale is desperate to stop a war with the Northern Court and needs a red witch to help him find lost relics of power. Remy has been hiding from witch hunters for years. Can she trust Hale and finally help her people? This was a fun adventure with solid world-building and engaging action sequences. Remy and Hale began with feisty enemies-to-lovers banter, but it quickly shifted to genuine affection and slow-burn heat. Their romance was well-paced and believable. I enjoyed the found family dynamics of the larger group working together to complete their quests. I look forward to continuing this series.

Perfect blend of adventure, fantasy and romance.
I couldn't put this book down. It is an amazing blend of everything you want in an adventure fantasy book, with a dash of spicy romance to keep you reading. Nothing is cheesy or tacky, there's just purely excellent material that makes you wish you were in the world.

A witch FMC I didn't know I needed
If you like books similar to ACOTAR or FBAA, this is the book for you! Although some themes felt very similar to both of those series, A.K. Mulford writes a captivating story involving witches and Fae! It’s not often that you get to read about witches and them being a focal point because they’re typically briefly mentioned or are just background characters. High Mountain Court follows our MC, Remy, in third person POV. For the past 13 years she’s been hiding from her past, traveling from tavern to tavern with two other witches. Her secrets that she keeps and things she’s hiding from aren’t very clear at the beginning, so I loved how things unfolded as the story gets told. I like to be surprised so I didn’t think too hard on the clues so when the twists and turns started happening I was consumed. I liked the world building, characters, friendships, the history, the adventure, tension, and romance. However I do have a few things on why I docked a star. Things felt pretty rushed throughout the book. The biggest disappointing scene was where we find out about the Fated *cough*…I felt like there was no shock factor behind it. There should have been a little more emotion and detail in a scene like that where we can bask in the news. Also I would have liked more character and friendship development. More story telling about each of them, more descriptions on how they look like. Phrases such as “Emerald Green eyes” were over used and I have the same image of anyone with white hair and green eyes from this book. I’m also not a fan of the third person POV so it’s really hard for me to get into the story. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was first person. All in all, I liked the book and thoroughly enjoyed the story, and have already started the next one. I wanted to write this review before I became fully immersed in the next. 3 stars overall and 2.5 for spice. Definitely recommend this though!

Title: The High Mountain Court Author: A.K. Mulford Release Date: May 24th, 2022 (Original release date unknown) Page Count: 360 Format: Ebook and Audiobook Start Date: September 28th, 2021 and April 24th, 2023 Finish Date: October 23rd, 2021 and April 30th, 2023 Rating: 5 Stars Review: Story: I've been seeing this book on TikTok for a long time. I was so curious about it. I was on the fence about it until I actually stumbled across the author. I don't know her personally. I just follow her on social media. Anyways, she was talking about a certain point of the book and that tipped me over the fence about it. I immediately bought a copy. I am so happy I did. It was a beautifully imaginative story. I haven't read the sequel yet, but I fully plan to. Characters: Remy was a force to be messed with. She's fiesty and she's strong. She had two brown witch companions that were like family to her. They were just as amazing. I wish I could have gotten to see more of them. We also have Hale and his crew. They were just as amazing. Well, they weren't as fiesty, but that's okay. They had their own quirks. We weren't supposed to trust Hale in the beginning, but I have to admit. I did. Critiques: None Narration: Really enjoyed the audiobook. When I first read this book, the audiobook hadn't been released yet. The moment it came out, I bought it. The second time around, I listened to it. Final Thoughts: This quickly became one of my favorite books of all time. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I just know that I'm going to see some amazing things.
