book review! (Spoilers for beginning of book)
The book "The hunger games" written by Suzanne Collins, follows the scheme of a dystopian-type civilization where there are 12 districts in the once titled continent of "North America". The book better describes the background and gives more information then the movie, which premiered and was shown in theaters around March 12, 2012. The Hunger Games is a book series based on a teenager who is named Katniss Everdeen, who is really skilled with archery. Katniss lives in District 12, and she lives in The Seam, known as the poorest neighborhood in district 12. When it was time for the annual Hunger Games, Primrose "Prim" Everdeen was chosen, and Katniss volunteered as a tribute to participate in the Hunger Games, and when this happened I was shocked, Only because of her bravery, and because the Hunger Games is a grim joke to the Capital so I feel like that was reasoning for why she felt like she had to volunteer. If you are looking for a book that has extreme detail and a Dystopian type theme with some Action, I believe The Hunger Games is a great book for you.

Amazing!
This book is filled with action and creativity. I love how the author created a plot where the main character has to fight against including their own friend. Everything about this book is perfect even its flaws. (SPOILERS) Rue and the deaths of many others help develop a interesting plot.

Heartbreaking and beautiful. Absolutely genius.
The Hunger Games is an absolute must-read, especially for all of you dystopian fanatics! Filled with adventure, love, loss, hope, persistence, and bravery, this is a book you won't be able to put down. This is definitely not my favorite genre, so I was not sure if I would enjoy this book going in, but it opened up a love for this genre for me. I don't think I have ever read a book that was more of a page turner! The book follows Katniss, a citizen in the dystopian world of Panem and their twelfth District, and what happens to her during the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games were created after the uprising of the thirteenth District to make the people of Panem afraid to revolt again. On reaping day, Katniss' little sister, Prim, is chosen to be the District 12 tribute. Katniss then volunteers as tribute, unable to watch her little sister go, sending her off on the craziest adventure of a lifetime. Although, this is hardly a fun adventure; she must witness brutal death firsthand on many accounts. She becomes the victim of starvation, loss, dehydration, and many mutated creatures. In the end, only one tribute can survive. There were twenty-four at the beginning. One. That's it. Only one will survive. Right? I thoroughly enjoyed how this book was written. You could really feel every single emotion that Katniss felt, which is incredible because of how many she felt considering her circumstances. I was able to emotionally connect with many characters, some of which made it very difficult to let go. I felt the gut-wrenching pain and guilt that Katniss faces throughout the novel, which is hard for authors to accomplish. Suzanne Collins really is a genius. I don't think this novel is intended to be read by younger audiences, but if you are okay with gore, go for it. By the end of the book, I felt like I had developed personal relationships with every character. I admired Peeta's persistence and bravery, loved Rue's energy, sympathized with Prim, bonded with Gale, and connected with Katniss and her loyalty. My favorite part of the book was the establishment of promises between Rue and Katniss and Prim and Katniss. Their hope and fear for Katniss made me really want her to win. To anyone who might want to watch the movie and hasn't read the book yet, I advise you to read the book first. I read the book first and then watched the movie and I got so much more out of it. The book allows you to feel Katniss' emotions and develop a much stronger connection to every character, making the plot and the losses more impactful. I had a better sense of what was going through Katniss's head and the hardships were much more evident. I also thought the book just had so much more detail and that the movie excluded many of Katniss' problems that she faced along the way. However, definitely watch the movie because it lets you see the behind-the-scenes of the game-making of the Hunger Games and the reasoning behind everything the game makers did which is really cool. It also showed some of the reactions from different Districts. Overall, I would say this is an amazing read and definitely worth picking it up. I give this book five stars! I had no complaints or issues, except that it seemed a little bit too short for how attached I was. Anyway, onto the next one!

LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!!!!
When someone first recommended this book to me, I thought I was going to hate it because I usually only like light fluffy romances and I definitely DO NOT like violence, especially when kids are the main part of that violence. But finally, after my mom and sister nagged me to read it for months, I finally picked it up…and I’m so glad I did! The Hunger Games changed my perspective on technology (as most dystopian novels do) and really made me think about the world and how it changes. Not only that, but it also had so much depth to it that I never thought it would, like how each of the districts worked and how the rules of the games are all outlined and made so that anyone can understand them. In fact, they games in this book are described so perfectly that when I was reading, I could visualize exactly what the forest looked like and what each battle scene looked like. When I went on to watch the movie after (I had to because this story is just SO GOOD), I quickly realized that Collins’ descriptions were so exact that the movie scene looked like what I had imagined. I kept reading so that I could figure out who would win and I was pleasantly surprised! But most of all, I loved the characters the most. Katniss isn’t annoying like some heroes in books, or quiet or shy or bookish or any of those things. She’s strong and confident and doesn’t need anyone to take care of her. And while I loved Gale right from the beginning (who wouldn’t?) Peeta was such an evolved character, I grew to respect him and his smarts, too. And I felt genuinely sad when certain characters left the story (no spoilers) because, as I got to know each one, they became like real people that I actually knew. And Oh. My. God. I fell in love with seeing Katniss, Peeta, and Gale’s love triangle so much! When reading this book, I could almost visualize Peeta here, Gale there, and Katniss somewhere in the middle. Throughout the whole book, I was wondering who she’d end up with and by the third book, I was ready to know! I also really enjoyed the fact that this book could be for any kind of book person. It has romance for rom-com lovers, exciting action for action lovers, a journey for the explorers, and everything in between. It’s super versatile and is just such an interesting and engaging book to read. If you’re someone like me who loves to read series, this book is perfect for you because there are 3 more books after it that are just as amazing! Each one has a different adventure and made me want to read more books by Suzanne Collins. This series is definitely one of my favorites I’ve ever read! I love it! Altogether, The Hunger Games is an amazing book! If you are looking for an engaging, exciting book, then this book is for you.

Opinions on Hunger Games
Following 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen's life after she is selected to compete in her country's annual Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins' debut book, The Hunger Games, is the first of a three-part trilogy. Katniss is well aware that in order to prevail, she will have to choose between life and love, freedom and unending misery. I personally am not a big reader. I have a hard time getting into books and following them. I mostly struggle to understand or be interested in the story. This book had enough intensity to keep my attention for most of the book. I enjoyed reading The Hunger Games, which is really rare for me. It was easy to understand and I liked the characters and found myself rooting for Katniss to win. I think the important message in this book is to stand up against injustice and fight for what you think is right. It also gives hope to the little guy and makes you wonder how bad it could be if the elite was in full control. The Hunger Games teaches about being selfless and embracing my challenges. No matter what is thrown at me, I always have to keep my head up. Everyone from middle school to high school teenagers should read The Hunger Games because it is a very exciting and attention grabbing book. Each chapter is a new battle in which all the tributes must take a stand, especially Peeta and Katniss. It teaches teenagers to face their problems and never back down no matter how scary it is. I found The Hunger Games very entertaining and very hard to put down.
