Since its publication in 2017, The Lost Words has enchanted readers with its poetry and illustrations of the natural world. Now, The Lost Spells, a book kindred in spirit and tone, continues to re-wild the lives of children and adults. The Lost Spells evokes the wonder of everyday nature, conjuring up red foxes, birch trees, jackdaws, and more in poems and illustrations that flow between the pages and into readers' minds. Robert Macfarlane's spell-poems and Jackie Morris's watercolor illustrations are musical and magical: these are summoning spells, words of recollection, charms of protection. To read The Lost Spells is to see anew the natural world within our grasp and to be reminded of what happens when we allow it to slip away.

Great Nature Poetry

A great book of nature poetry. Being poetry, the book is a quick read, but the poems are amazing. Some rhyme, some don't, but all the poems are about pieces of nature and the back of the book includes a glossary of the different plants and animals depicted within the poems. The poems vary from peaceful to thought-provoking to funny, in my opinion. The pictures in the book are also beautiful. I'm keeping the book on my shelf cause I believe where there will be multiple moments where I'll want to re-experience different poems. If you are fond of nature literature or poems in general, I highly recommend taking a look at this book.

Beautifully written and illustrated

Spirituality is very important to me, so it only goes to show that nature holds a very prominent place in my heart. I feel that this applies to many of you as well, regardless of your religion. It can be very beautiful, and while it can be hard to see, what with the sorry way we’ve been treating the land, it’s nice to know there are still authors that understand this magic in the world and can turn it into a piece of art.

Great poems on nature with beautiful paintings

I really enjoy reading poems on nature and animals while looking at beautifully painted illustrations. I live in Frostburg, Maryland, a mountain city. This book is what I like to bring when I go for a walk in nature seeing trees and mountains. Very recommended for those who love nature and animals or nature artists or writers to get inspirations to do any projects related to nature and animal study
