A loving homage to the era celebrated by the hit Netflix series Bridgerton—and the cocktails that shaped its high society As a society doyenne and undercover libertine, Lady Thornwood knows what makes a drink perfect. In The Regency Book of Drinks: Quaffs, Quips, Tipples, and Tales from Grosvenor Square, this respectable cocktail connoisseur presents a guide of over 75 cocktail recipes shaped by the Regency era in both refinement and ingredients and served alongside a heaping dose of high-society gossip, scandal, and speculation. Beginning with the gentlewoman's advice on setting up a Regency bar, the best glassware and garnishes, and an overview of the period's most popular ingredients, the book is then divided into six subsequent recipe chapters drawn from high-society life during the London social season, from occasions such as "The Evening Soirée" to "Delicate Daytime Drinks" to even those rare, deliciously nonalcoholic drinks for "Polite Company." Throughout these chapters, Lady Thornwood weighs in with stylish sidebars and entertaining advice on how to host gatherings that are the talk of the "ton." Amidst all of her sly cheek and drama, our hostess presents readers and cocktail aficionados with an intriguing true history.

Regency drinks and more!

I have often wondered what was involved with the drinks that I read about in Regency books. What is in the punch at Almack’s, what is proper to serve at a garden party, and what do they serve at White’s? These questions and more are answered in The Regency Books of Drinks Quaffs, Quips, Tipples & Tales from Grosvenor Square. The book shares how to make cocktails, what to serve at a soiree, what glassware to use, how to make simple syrups, and non-alcoholic punches. My personal favorite was Chilling Favorites, Mastering The Art of the Punchbowl. But for anyone who is a true Regency fan, the tidbits on each page will be more enticing than the drinks. You will enjoy the letters from Lady Thornburg, some games to play at a house party, the period illustrations, and the history behind the drinks. A true Regency learning experience that will hopefully be your cup of tea. . or punch. I was given a complimentary copy and not required to write a positive review.

Sweet little cocktail book for Bridgerton fans

This is a sweet little cocktail book for Bridgerton fans. It includes a guide to setting up a regency bar (including which spirits, garnishes, and glasses you'll need) before proceeding into the drinks. If you are a fan of Champagne cocktails this book is full to the brim, but you'll also find punchbowl recipes, a section of daytime-friendly drinks that are lighter on alcohol, plenty of whisky cocktails for those who enjoy their cocktails sipped neat, and a section on romantic cocktails for two. I love the little illustrations of each drink, including ways to garnish each so they feel extra special. The first cocktail I made was the Diamond of the Season, which includes an absinthe rinse around the glass before adding the shaken cocktail. It gave the cocktail a light green color and was light enough that the drink didn't feel dominated by anise. This book would make a perfect gift for both Bridgerton fans and period drama fans alike.
