Demigods Nico di Angelo and Will Solace must endure the terrors of Tartarus to rescue an old friend in this thrilling adventure co-written by New York Times 1 best-selling author Rick Riordan and award-winning author Mark Oshiro. Percy Jackson fans, rejoice Nico and Will have a book of their own As the son of Hades, Nico di Angelo has been through so much, from the premature deaths of his mother and sister, to being outed against his will, to losing his friend Jason during the trials of Apollo. But there is a ray of sunshine in his life and mdash, literally- his boyfriend, Will Solace, the son of Apollo. Together the two demigods can overcome any obstacle or foe. At least, that's been the case so far. Now Nico is being plagued by a voice calling out to him from Tartarus, the lowest part of the Underworld. He thinks he knows who it is- a reformed Titan named Bob whom Percy and Annabeth had to leave behind when they escaped Hades's realm. Nico's dreams and Rachel Dare's latest prophecy leave little doubt in Nico's mind that Bob is in some kind of trouble. Nico has to go on this quest, whether Mr. D and Chiron like it or not. And of course Will insists on coming with. But can a being made of light survive in the darkest part of the world and what does the prophecy mean that Nico will have to "leave something of equal value behind " Nico will have to face demons both internal and external as his relationship with Will.

Had Potential But Ruined It

I honestly don’t know what to rate this. It was written by someone who clearly doesn’t get the characters and just wants to flex their knowledge of the series, referencing past books way too often. The first page was great. I loved it. There were funny moments and some genuinely sweet moments. But overall it’s very obvious that Mark doesn’t actually understand Nico or Will and just wanted to write a queer story in the Percy Jackson universe. I think a different author who identifies with Nico or Will would have been better suited to write this. It’s not BAD but as someone who relates so strongly to Nico…..I can’t like it. They argue CONSTANTLY and the big moment near the end wasn’t as big or impactful as it should have been. And Nico doesn’t have to completely change. It’s okay to grow but still be you. Obviously Mark doesn’t agree.

Abosolutely Incredible!

This book is an intricate story that does a lovely representation of the interpretation of trauma and PTSD! This is truly my favourite book, and it's one of the few I can read over and over and still learn something new!

One Of My Favorite Rick Riordan Books!

This is probably one of my favorite Rick Riordan books! He always is so inclusive on different religions, sexualities, ethnicities etc. and this book is no exception. I'm so happy Nico and Will finally have their own book! All the characters were extremely well developed and relatable. I first preordered the book the day I found out it was in the works (four months before the publication date), and was delighted when it showed up at my doorstep. I binge read it for two days straight, and the ending left me extremely satisfied, which is a rare occurrence for me. I laughed, I cried, and there were so many fluffy Solangelo moments, I have so many annotating tabs sticking out of the pages! Great read for gifting, for new and old fans of the Rick Riordan universe. I cannot say enough good things about this book!

YES

It's May 2 and I'm sitting in science class waiting to go home so I can buy this book! Also trying to balance out the reviews because of whoever left a one star rating decided to judge it before reading it.
