The War of Two Queens (Blood and Ash Series #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Product Details
Web ID: 15843665This series has officially lost me
Nothing will stop Poppy from her mission of rescuing her husband from the clutches of the Blood Queen. There will be no retreat from war under Poppy’s rule. As she works to bring the two Kingdoms together, Cas is fighting to endure a torturous captivity. As death and devastation reign around her, Poppy fears becoming what has been foretold - a harbinger of doom and destruction. Every time I think about this book, my rating gets lower. This is officially where this series lost me, There were some questionable moments that I pushed through up until this book, but no more. This entire story follows two characters growing questionably close as one’s best friend and the other’s supposed heartmate is being held captive by his co-called heartmate’s demented mother. This was all done to attempt to emotionally justify the three of them performing the greatly built-up joining ceremony that was ultimately written as a lackluster, vague mess. Ultimately, I think that is what angered me the most- if you’re going to sacrifice so much time building something up, then at least make it readable.

Can't Stop. Won't Stop.
Once I pick up one of these books, I might as well cancel all plans. Every one has sucked me and didn’t let go until the very end and this book is no different.

Ignore the hate, this was fantastic.
5/5 stars 5/5 spice The War of Two Queens was fantastic. I want to start by addressing the not great reviews... I don't think JLA was pandering to fans at all. She hinted at this happening from day one or what was the point in bringing it up? Anyway, enough about that. This one held so many twists I had to remember to keep my jaw up. It was so suspenseful at times, I was on the edge of my seat, reading as quickly as I could while still soaking it all in. I really can't wait to read this one again and experience it for a second time. I absolutely adore Cas and Poppy and Kieran's relationship. I really want Kieran to find love, I want to see him all gooey and protective over her and see how she fits in this trio. I imagine her to be so much like Poppy and that they could end up best friends. This one had me in tears. I couldn't believe some of the events that happened, they broke my heart... I am so excited for the next book to see how this all plays out. I'm almost sad we get A Light in the Flame first, despite how much I love that series and have been craving the next one. Hopefully the wait for book 5 isn't long!

4 Stars!
While AWOTQ wasn't my favorite in the series, it was still a fantastic read (or listen in my case). I absolutely loved getting to see more Kieran and seeing his bond build with Poppy. It was really great to see them come together with all the chaos going on and be able to be there for the other to lean on. Malik was super interesting to me and I loved trying to figure him out. I really enjoyed the overall storyline, granted some points were a little slow moving. The climax of the story was really good and had on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to unfold. I also enjoyed characters from ASITE being mentioned and what they mean historically. A great read! And lastly... Reaver Butt!!

Best so far!
This is my favorite of the series....so far! The humor is still there. The plot twists are still going. I love the development of Poppy and Cas's relationship. As well as that of Kieran added to the mix. Armentrout keeps things. steamy, funny, and twisting. We've known all along that Poppy was something else - hints given during the entire story (series). That continues in this book. I can't wait see how it. continues!

Best book in the whole series easily! <3
TWOTQ is the best book in the series, and there’s no doubt about it. JLA left us on a HUGE cliffhanger in TCOGB when Isbeth took Cas away when she tried to choke Poppy. Now, Poppy, Kieran, and more people (Delano, Naill, Emil, Valyn, etc.) are trying to get Cas back. But namely, Poppy and Kieran. I hysterically screamed when I found out that Casteel’s POV is also in this book! In Cas’s POV, he also describes that he misses Poppy a lot, but doesn’t regret his decision because he’d rather be here than Poppy being here. Malik and Millie were good additions to this book, and Cas starts to trust his brother more after he was took in by the Ascended. Poppy and Kieran bond even MORE while trying to get Cas back, and have a sister-brother relationship which is so adorable lol. A character addition I absolutely LOVED was Reaver. He’s amusing, funny, and apparently likes to burn things. But, he helps Poppy and Kieran with everything and without him, they wouldn’t have Cas back. He was a huge part in this book, and I definitely want more of him in the next book! But then, Isbeth puts a spell on Kieran- if Poppy doesn’t find Malec and bring him to Isbeth, their “precious little wolven” (Aka Kieran) dies. And the cut on his arm can only be gone if Isbeth lifts the spell, and they don’t know how long Kieran will live now. So, the next choice is The Joining. I felt like The Joining was hinted throughout the series that is was eventually gonna happen, and well, it happened in this book! But it was also well-anticipated by fans of FBAA, including me lol :) The Joining was a good part of this book, but warning: it is HIGHLY EXPLICIT. After The Joining was done, it turned into something more between the three of them, aka a threesome. That was not expected, I gotta admit, because I loved Poppy and Kieran in the exact sister-brother relationship they had, but things changed but didn’t change between them after The Joining. First of all, in Casteel’s POV when Poppy comes out of the entrance into the hall in her armor, Casteel says that he noticed Poppy because his heart beat very fast, but he “didn’t know if that came from him or Kieran, because he too stared as I did.” But, nothing romantic exists between them fortunately and they’re even more closer now, and have an unbreakable bond. At the end, it is said that “the war you have fought has not ended, it has just begun” and left us on ANOTHER cliffhanger! This book series has literally changed my view on everything and changed my life. I read my copies so much they’re literally torn apart a bit lol. But, I’m waiting for JLA to release the next book! i literally cannot wait omfgggggg AHHH! I’m in love with this book series and don’t think I’ll ever stop. Best. Book. Series. EVER!

Love this series!!
First part is spoiler free!!! As much as it pains me to say this I didn’t love this book like I so badly wanted to. But I also didn’t dislike it like a lot of people did. Overall, I though it was fine. I honestly don’t understand why some of y’all were so upset by this book. Tbh it was kind of nice to not be in emotional distress the entire time like I was with the last two books. The plot just fell a bit flat for me compared to the other books in the series. I feel like this book was kind of like a stepping stone that was needed to help set up where the end of this series is going to go. We learned a lot in this book, but really not much happened. All in all, I can’t wait to see where the series goes next! ***** Spoilers bellow!! ***** I think a big part of why I didn’t love this book was because Poppy and Casteel spent the first half of the book separated. I liveeeee for the Cas and Poppy interactions!! So not having them for so long was hard. And having to see my man Casteel be hurt, but I LOVED having Casteel’s POV. The soulwalking though?!? Nice touch Jennifer. And let’s be real y’all, why are some of you so upset by the Joining?? We all knew (or hoped) it was going to happen. I love the friendship between Cas, Poppy, and Kieran.
