Broke after 6 uses

I used this electric teapot about 6 times and it’s no longer working. The lever you push to begin the heating process is broken! It looks great…just doesn’t work.

I bought this I luv it how it works but I’m confused is it safe to boil water in kettle made of plastic I bought it for my new born and confused to boil water in it ??? Anyone please help
