The knife was broken during the first month of use. The sharpener, probably, was not new. Unfortunately, I didn't check it from the beginning.

I would like to add I bought this set for my new home and I have to say it is a great deal. The quality is great specially for the price. I've bought much more expensive sets and not had as great results.
Thought it was a good buy...
but after only a week of regular use, one of the knives broke (where the blade meets the handle). I have never had a knife break on me. Since then other knives in the set have broken in the same place, and others are starting to loosen - again, in the same area. I feel this Tools of the Trade product is defective.
Perfect Cut
I had been searching for a set, not too expensive. I found this and loved it. Once I got home and used them, I was sure I had made a great buy. They cut great! Love this set.
Bad Buy
Purchased in store on 2/23/08. 2 months later I have rust-spotted knives. The black knife block leaves black marks on my counter. Water drains out of the handles even when you think it's dry; when it drips out of the knife into the block, black water seeps onto and stains the counter. As far as cutting, I didn't need a chef set. These knives do cut well for basic use. Thought we were getting a deal, but now we need to search again for a set.

I BROUGHT THESE KNIVES ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN SATISFIED WITH THEM. THEIR NOT SHARP AT ALL, EVEN WHEN I SHARPEN THEM. ITS NOT EVEN WORTH THE MONEY.

This cutlery set is a good price. It's also a good product. it will not rust if you wash it and dry it right away. it truly is stainless steel. It looks good in my kitchen. However, I would not recommend this steel cutlery set if, one has sensitive teeth. like I do. But, I would recommend the wooden set by Tools of the Trade. It's just as good! If you have this problem.
