Major oversight on leash fitting capabilities

As cute as this is and as well as it fits my dog, it's annoying that this doesn't have a little hole for a leash to go through like many jackets/vests have. It's too late for me to return it (already removed tag etc) so I might just try cutting one myself? It would be fine to wear in a safe fenced in space, but for any environment in which your dog needs to be leashed, this doesn't work great without a way to attach a leash...
