1 New York Times Bestseller. A People Kid Pick of the week. From the mind of basketball legend and Academy Award-winning storyteller Kobe Bryant comes this radically original portrait of five young basketball players, one enlightening coach, and the awesome transformative power of the game. Filled with insights about the mental stamina and emotional clarity that peak performance requires, this is an indispensable story for young athletes, coaches, educators, and anyone interested in the astonishing potential of team sports to unlock individual growth. THE GAME WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. Magic doesn't seem possible for the West Bottom Badgers. They're the lowest-ranked basketball team in their league, and they live in the poorest neighborhood in Dren. Nobody expects them to succeed at anything. Plus, every kid on the team has secret struggles of his own. When a new coach named Professor Wizenard arrives on the first day of training camp, the Badgers can't explain the magical-seeming things they see and hear. Every player experiences unique and strange visions-visions that challenge everything they thought they knew about basketball, and about their lives and their secrets off the court. To survive the increasingly intense ordeals of training, the Badgers will need to take unimaginable risks, learn to trust their teammates, and confront the darkness within themselves.

Exceptional Basketball Story

This book deserves to be a New York Times best seller. This book depicts all of the characters' points of view and discusses the challenges that they are facing. They are the lowest-ranked basketball team in their league, and they live in the poorest neighborhood in Dren. Despite being the lowest-ranked team in their league, they had gotten a new coach, Rolabi Wizenard. Rolabi uses a mysterious force known as the Grana as soon as he joins the team. This force has complete control over the universe, allowing him to create highly interactive practices. These practices helped the team understand how to communicate with one another and play as a unit. Rain, the main character, always believed he was the best player and that he couldn't grow; however, this coach taught him that he could be much better. This book demonstrates how to conquer and overcome fear. It also demonstrated that everyone has the potential and capability to change, and that it is a choice that each individual makes. Overall, this book deserved to be a best-seller, and I highly encourage everyone to read it.

Fantastic Story For Both Young and Old

OK all I can say is WOW. What a fantastic read!! There is so much packed in here I don't know that I can adequately describe how I feel after reading this, but I will try... This book is broken into five parts, each describing a main player's POV. You would think it would get boring or frustrating but that is not the case here. Each perspective brings you closer to the main characters and gets you emotionally involved. I was in tears during some parts of their stories. Scattered throughout the story, and at the beginning of each chapter are Wizenard Proverbs such as: "If you don't like being alone, you must learn to like yourself." and "There is always a deeper darkness. Find it, face it, and know the night will pass " These quips are easy to apply to the daily grind of life and really make you look deep and reflect. I will be writing some of these down and taping them around. Even though the core storyline revolves around basketball, this is a story anyone can enjoy. The main point I took away was that we, as humans, are so quick to judge others' lives. We think someone has it harder or easier when in fact we know nothing at all. If we LOOKED, we would see, and we would find that things are never what we think they are.
