Looks nice but doesn't grab hold paper towel roll

Looks nice but disappointed that it does not have an expander on the upright holder to keep the roll of paper towel from spinning round as you try to tear a piece off. The previous wooden-base Umbra paper towel holder that I used had a thin rounded metal sheath in the middle that grabbled hold of the roll of paper towel - I didn't realise how useful that was until I found this one didn't have it.

Pretty but doesn’t do what it says it does

Solid base and easy to load. Those rubber ribs don’t even touch the roll so forget the rip off a sheet at a time. A bit pricey for a solid base only.

Not sturdy enough to tear towels off with one hand

I thought this would be pretty and also strong because of the metal base. It's not sturdy enough to tear towels off with one hand. You pull the whole holder along when trying. Also, it is REALLY HARD to fill. It doesn't seem to screw off at the top. You have to screw the upright part into a hole on the bottom of the stand which is really hard to do when you have a thick roll of towels there and can't see where it goes. It's pretty but for me, not functional.
