The Toy's Fantasy collection is inspired by the age-old German tradition of the Feast of St. Nicholas. For 2020 the collection features Victorian inspired renderings of Santa and woodland creatures in a snowy scene. The plates and platters in this collection feature ruffled-edges, reminiscent of a bunter teller, which German children leave outside their bedroom doors on the eve of December 5th in hopes that St. Nicholas will visit and fill the plate with delicious treats.

Stunning print and beautiful bright colors

Its a stunning plate, better in person! Also quite large. I am displaying mine in my lighted hutch, is gorgeous (makes me want to climb into the scene and go back in time). The reds are bright and vibrant, more so than some of the pics you see online of this plate (some appear very dark red). Looks nice with the other dishes in the Toys Fantasy Line (as well as the new 2022 ones).

Substandard glaze issue

An outstanding design marred by substandard glaze covering! As was the case with the square, rectangular and round bowls from this year's Toy's Fantasy collections, paint comes off this Pastry Plate very easily - glazing certainly does no effective protection. After a single use, we ended up having our pieces looking like they have been used for years. Hope V&B looks into the quality of the glaze it applies to its otherwise beautiful pieces.
