Some things DO get better...

I saw the "Made in Ireland" Clearly Waterford Red Wine glasses on display at Macy's and ordered a set for later delivery. When they arrived, they were Waterford, but "Made in Italy." Could be a problem, I thought. I'm NOT a fan of Waterford's Slovenian crystal compared to the Irish original in other styles and patterns, but I remembered Italians have been doing glass for a long, long time. Well, long story short - the Italian glasses are spectacular! Much better in every way than their Irish progenitors. They have a fuller, more graceful stem attachment to the bowl, and they avoid the odd thickening of the stem an inch or so above the base the Irish glasses exhibit. For once, I am perfectly satisfied with an "off-shored" product. Good for you, Waterford! (and Macy's too)
