"Spellbinding." -Stephanie Garber, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Caraval series "A delectably immersive, eerie experience." -Kirkus Reviews From New York Times bestselling author of The Wicked Deep comes a haunting romance perfect for fans of Practical Magic, where dark fairy tales and enchanted folklore collide after a boy, believed to be missing, emerges from the magical woods- and falls in love with the witch determined to unravel his secrets. Be careful of the dark, dark wood... Especially the woods surrounding the town of Fir Haven. Some say these woods are magical. Haunted, even. Rumored to be a witch, only Nora Walker knows the truth. She and the Walker women before her have always shared a special connection with the woods. And it's this special connection that leads Nora to Oliver Huntsman- the same boy who disappeared from the Camp for Wayward Boys weeks ago- and in the middle of the worst snowstorm in years. He should be dead, but here he is alive, and left in the woods with no memory of the time he'd been missing. Nora can feel an uneasy shift in the woods at Oliver's presence.

WINTERWOOD by Shea Ernshaw A dark and mysterious forest, a missing boy, a possibly dead boy, a bottomless lake, a family of witches with uncommon powers and abilities… It all sounds intriguing, right? While the writing is lovely and atmospheric, the pacing was painfully slow and narrative was repetitive. There was a lot of over-explaining and over-emphasis of details. I found the main character, Nora Walker, to be one dimensional and whiny. Her insta-love interest, Oliver, wasn’t any better either. It probably didn’t help that I figured out the twist/mystery very early on so it made reading (to find out if I was correct) tedious. The only parts I liked were the snippets taken from Nora’s family’s spell book. Give me a story about those magically tragic relatives instead! Overall a good story, but it just didn’t work for me. A Magical Read

Nora comes from a family of Walkers. The Wicker Woods are dangerous, yet the Walkers can go in during the full moon when the woods are asleep. When Nora meets Oliver, a boy from the camp across the lake, she’s wary of him, and rightly so because she knows what the boys from the camp think of the Walkers. Oliver has been in the woods for a long time, and he claims not to know what happened. As Nora delves into the mystery, we learn more about Nora and her family, stretching back generations. Winterwood is a book that I made very few notes of while reading because I couldn’t stop reading long enough to make notes. I love how absolutely foreboding the woods are. Ernshaw created a fantastic world that is magical and creepy and has given us wonderful characters in which to traverse this world. This book is everything good with the fantasy genre and is one I want to clutch tightly and never put down.

Absolutely adored this book!

I was absolutely immersed in this atmospheric and romantic dark contemporary fantasy. Ernshaw weaves a story that is both beautiful and haunting—one that drew me in and then didn't let me go. This is one of those books that is best discovered as you read, so I won't say more than that.

Shea does it again!

This book was everything I had been hoping it would be! Dark and melancholy and beautiful. Shea knows how to write characters and her settings are always so vivid! I think I loved this one even more than The Wicked Deep!

A great book

I bought this two days ago and have finished reading it already. It’s a great book and a nice read. The plot tends to drag on because you can tell what is going to happen but other then that this book is amazing!!!
