This is a really great sweater. And let's be honest, it's almost more of a jacket or a house-coat. The exterior is an nicely woven cable-knit style that is thick and soft. However, underneath it is a 2-part liner: sort of a flat-satin in the sleeves (sensible), and a faux-fur lining around the body. This combo makes this a perfectly comfortable and wearable piece. I'm particularly excited about it as my work-from-home space finds me in our daylight basement - nicely cooled in the summer but bloody cold in the winter, and this helps.
Here's the only drawback (and it is significant, and cost a star) - the sizing is terrible. I wear an XL - Eddie Bauer, Gap, Macy's - doesn't matter, XL is my size. Some years ago I could form-fit into a Large, but those days are past (I'm 6'3" and 265lbs). My mum has bought me items in 2XL before and they fit me like drapes or sacks, so I almost always trade them back in for XL. So (without seeing other reviews) I got this in XL and what a disappointment. It fit me like a mens' Medium! It bulged out at at each button loop and if I held my arms out the sleeves ran up way past my wrists. After reading other reviews then and seeing this has been a common experience, I tried to exchange in-store (they don't carry it), so without the benefit of another size to try, I blind-replaced it for the 3XL and that is a PERFECT fit. So their 3XL is a typical XL. Sadly, if you truly need a size greater, you won't find it here. Additional note, this item is Dry Clean (because of the complicated liners).
So, sizing is a key flaw, but in spite of it, I'm really pleased with this purchase. Staff at our in-store Macy's were fantastic in helping me exchange the old size for new, and the replacement arrived really quickly. Purchase with eyes-wide-open, but if you decide to get one, I hope you'll like it!
