What is the Best Way to Hang Window Treatments? One of the most popular (and Macy’s personal favorite) way of hanging window curtains is to use curtain clip rings. They are clipped to the edge of the curtain’s drapery panel with rings that slide over the curtain rod.

We love this method because it can be used to hang any type of window curtain, since you simply clip the ring to the curtain’s drapery panel.

Rod clip rings are also great because they add 1-2 more inches to your curtain panel as the clips allow the fabric to hang just below the curtain rod.

Curtain rings are also so easy to move—easily open and close your bedroom window treatments on a daily basis…open them up wide to let the sunshine pour in to help start your day and close them tight when it’s lights out (and time for your beauty rest).

What is the Difference Between A Clip Ring and A Hook Clip? A clip ring is a circular ring that slides all the way around the curtain rod with a dangling clip attached. Clip rings usually come in sizes to specifically fit your size curtain rod. A hook clip is a single wire folded against itself—one end has a clip attached and the other end is bent into a curved hook. It almost looks like a large fishing hook with a clip attached to one end.

How to Hang Window Treatments Using Curtain Clip Rings or Hook Clips:

1. Start by measuring your curtain rod’s thickness (to ensure you buy the right set of clip rings or hook clips).

2. Measure your curtain width to find out exactly how many clip rings or hook clips you need. You should ideally put a ring about every 4 inches. Take your curtain width and divide by 4 inches to know how many you’ll need.

3. Buy your clip rings or hook rings and start clipping them to the curtain’s drapery panels.

4. Slide the rings or hooks around the rod, hang and admire!

Ring Clip Tip: For a cohesive look, you can buy a clip rings and curtain rods hardware set! Sets can include a curtain rod, 2 finials (decorative ornaments AKA pretty doodads for the ends of the rod…we love gold color finials), support brackets, holdbacks and matching clip rings.
