An instant #1 New York Times bestseller-Jaycee Dugard's raw and powerful memoir, her own story of being kidnapped in 1991 and held captive for more than eighteen years. In the summer of June of 1991, I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother that loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen. For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse. For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation. On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I don't think of myself as a victim, I simply survived an intolerable situation. A Stolen Life is my story-in my own words, in my own way, exactly as I remember it.

Jaycee Dugard

I bought this book yesterday and it was so good that I finished the entire book already. I'm typically not a reader but I just couldn't put the book down.

Jaycee dugard a stolen life

This book entails the story of a girl who was kidnapped at a very young age and was abused in many ways including sexually by her captor. I really liked that the story was a memoir and Jaycee herself wrote the story. The book was really captivating and heart touching. I really liked the aspect that she wrote reflections to reflect in current time what she had just written, include background information and state her feelings. The story included specific details of her abuse wich helped me to understand and empathize more what the character was going through, but this may not be the best choice for some people who may be triggered by this. The only somewhat negative aspect of the book is that it is written kind of poorly due to jaycees education level but I don't think this takes away from any importance in the book or the story at all. I give this book a 10/10

Amazing read

This memoir “A stolen life” by Jaycee Dugard in her own story where One summer in 1991 an eleven-year-old girl was walking to school when her life was stolen right out from underneath her little feet. She grew up a prisoner and an object to her kidnappers. She was not allowed to speak for herself. She was sexually assaulted which led to her having two kids before she was eighteen years old. Which forced her to have to do what she had to do in a shed in the backyard. Which was to become the best mother she could be with little to no help raising her two young kids. She soon had to find a way out of that troublesome situation. I think she wrote this book to not only help people that may be going through a bad situation to stick it out because it will get better eventually but for herself, to help her better get over what happened to her faster. This lets her nappers know they are not going to steal any more of her life from her. This story can help many people. She shows us if she can get through this hardship in her life and overcome everything she talks about in this book then we can overcome our day to day problems we face. She was still a superwoman/ mother to her kids. This book was a great read. I loved this book because she tells her own story very well, putting us there and not just explaining what happened to her. She remembers what happened to her for 18 years like it was yesterday. Although it is a good read this book has very strong content and maybe a tear-jerker for some people. I would recommend this book to all.

Great Book!

I read A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard for a memoir unit in english. Although I was lowkey forced to read the book I ended up very much enjoying it. The book is written so well but the contents of the book is suitable for certain audiences. This novel has a few rough subjects including abduction, abuse and rape. Jaycee Dugard was 11 years old when she was abducted from a bus stop. Her captor, Phillip Garrido, kept her hidden from the world and the frequent stop ins from parole officers. This is her story during those 18 years in captivity. Jaycee writes about her experiences from the age shes at when it happened. She also includes an authors note at the end of every chapter reflecting on how she feels about it now as a grown adult. This is really helpful in understanding how the trauma affected her. I recommend this book to anyone who likes true crime or real life stories. You should fr check it out
