Grinder needs a lot of adjustment

I've owned other Breville espresso machines and this one isn't great. At least mine isn't. The way it came it could not grind fine enough even on the finest grind setting. Breville tried to convince me it was the beans I was using despite my assertion that using a different Breville grinder fixed the problem. So they are just trying to dodge a warranty claim. Anyway there is a outer burr adjustment which can be made inside the grinder. The factory default is always 6 - if I take it down to 1 I do get acceptable results but that doesn't give me any room for further adjustments down the road and this should work out of the box - it doesn't which is too bad since my old (cheaper) Barista Express poured thousands of shots without issue and it had a pressure gauge which the Barista Pro sorely lacks.

Thank you for your review. It is true that a good shot starts with the beans. If you find you're having to grind incredibly fine and you're using the single wall filters, you may need to change to the dual wall filters.

In general, if you're buying your beans from a shelf or bin, i.e. from Starbucks, a grocery store, a specialty shop, then you will want to use one of your dual wall filters (they're the ones that are smoother on the bottom). This is because since we don't know the actual freshness of these beans, the dual wall filter will help make up for any deficiencies in those beans. If you are buying your beans from a roaster, they have a 'Roasted On' date on them, and you're using them 5-20 days from that roast date, you'll want to use one of the single wall filters (the ones with a lot of holes on the bottom).
If you continue to experience issues, just file a new Case through this Breville web link https://mybreville.force.com/BrevilleCustomerCommunity/s/?language=en_US&region=us&brand=breville with a subject line of BV250806MMR-1. The worst mashine and Brend

I bought this machine three years ago for my birthday, and I think it is the worst purchase I've ever made. It broke after three months. For about half a year, I was trying to fix it, and finally I sent it to Breville to be fixed. However, after I received it back within two months, nothing was fixed.

Awesome ,With Practice!

Amazing machine, once you get everything dialed in. Controls are SUPER simple and easy to manage, but there's definitely a learning curve to getting the right grind size, grind timing, and dosing to get a tasty espresso. Once you do though, it's beautiful.

meets expectations so far

The espresso machine meets the expectation I had at the time of purchase. It is already the updated model with Baratza burr. I can't comment on long term performance and durability. Please note that the machine is often on sale; breville keeps the machine listed at full price but has frequent sales. Hence, the only complain I have is about volatility of retail price.

All Plastic

The description of the product states it is stainless steel. The product is not stainless steel. It is an entire plastic body including all of the knobs .Low quality and fraudulently marketed as stainless, when it is not.

Thank you for your review and your feedback. The body of the brushed stainless steel version is made of brushed stainless steel. It is correct that many portions of the machine are made of BPA-free plastic. But, we do value customers' input. We'll definitely pass along your feedback to the appropriate people, as we are continuously trying to improve our customer's experience.

Great espresso machine for beginners but grinder lacks

Bought this a little over a month ago and it makes good espresso perfect for a beginner. But I’d rather it not have the grinder as it’s not that great, grounds are clumpy and retention is bad making for inconsistent dosing. Might put 18 grams of beans in and get 19 out or 18 in 16.9 out.

Love it

Although this isn’t the best for a beginner , it comes with enough information to be able to understand the basics and then many videos and trial and error help to perfect the process. The machine isn’t humongous but it is solid and is a great addition to my at home coffee portions.

Machine has Died Twice in a Year

We have had this machine for a little over a year. It can make good espresso, but is a little bit inconsistent (acceptable for the price point I guess). But that's not the problem. It had an issue with the pump building enough pressure to pull espresso shots two months ago. We had to send the machine to Breville to service it. Now it cannot generate steam pressure or pull a shot just a couple months later, it's looking like we'll have to send the machine to Breville again. So what can I conclude? The build quality isn't there with these Breville Machines. Form, function, acceptable espresso quality? Sure. If it stops running when you want an espresso? What's the point...
