New watch did not work

Bought this online after looking at watches in person and picked it up in the local Macys store. It was a gift for my husband and he did like it a lot. However, when he took it to Macys store to have the links adjusted, they discovered that the time and date did not work. He ended up having it sent back to be repaired and it has taken over two weeks. If I had been with him, I would have insisted that Macys provide him with another, working watch. Very disappointed in Citizen's quality. I happen to have bought one of their watches a couple of years ago and love it but I, too, have begun to have issues with the date. I'm wondering if this is a quality control issue that has not been corrected at Citizen. I also wish that the Macy's sales clerk had suggested just replacing the watch with a new one.
