The bright blue marker wiped right out of my white sofa with just soap and water. Thank goodness. My kid started running around the living room with a blue marker, and I quickly looked around to see if he had colored anything yet. And he did: the white sofa.

Defective lids
I wonder if these have a recall. I bought 30 boxes for my first graders. Each box has the same problem. The lids will not go back on and click. There is a defect in the plastic and once opend, they can't close. I have thrown so many away. Do you think you could check into this? I may need to change brands. It's pretty frustrating. Nan

But younhave scrub hard to get markers off the fingers and hands And in the store near my house sells them but they don’t say washable so I won’t buy them and their brand is even worse

Response from crayola.com
Hi, Daisy Lou. It is frustrating to expect a product to clean up easily and that does not happen. We are sorry the Crayola Ultra-Clean Washable Markers did not meet your expectations. Although the markers are water-based and designed to wash from the skin, nearly all children's clothing, and painted walls, the dyes and pigments in the markers may react differently to various skin types, depending on a person's body chemistry. Usually, soap and water will do the trick. If there is a heavy deposit of ink on the skin and if you are unsuccessful with soap and water, try using baby wipes, baby oil, or make-up remover. You may find that keeping the area moist with water will help to lift the stain. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback in this review. Not washable
Great for drawing but not washable. For example my son can home from school and I saw that he drew on his hands with these markers. I tried to wash them off but it would not come off with hand soap, body wash soap, or shampoo. I had to scrub so hard it made his hands red and he was crying.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review of Crayola Ultra-Clean Washable Markers. They are formulated to clean up from skin and since the marks were difficult to remove from your son's hands, your disappointment is understandable. We are sorry for the frustration and tears this experience caused. Usually, soap and water will remove the ink. In some cases, baby oil and baby wipes are effective.
