Cuisinart does not live up to its reputation...
My beloved Mr. Coffee Thermal coffee maker died after 10+ years of service, a well thought out product. I purchased the Cuisinart as a replacement, as I have other Cuisinart small applicances...this was not cheap....there are several poor design issues: 1. The carafe weighs a ton 2. The pouring spout of the carafe is very awkward - you have to practically turn it vertical to get coffee out when it starts to get low. 3. The charcoal filter, at the bottom left corner of the unit is in a place where you KNOW its removal is going to be forgotten when cleaning 4. The water reservoir is in the back right corner of the unit, very awkward to reach with a pitcher of water. 5. There is a icon in the lower left of the LED screen that looks like a screw with a cross through it, that has NO explanation in the user manual...who knows what that means. The good news is that it makes good coffee, and takes a little less coffee; the coffee strainer doesn't need paper filters and is easy to clean.

Excellent coffee maker. Quiet with great features to customize your brew. Perfect coffee temp and insulated coffee pot keeps the coffee hot for several hours. All this for a great price.

Nothing spectacular. Has good features. Wish the Thermal Carafe keppt the coffee hotter. We pre heat it and it still does noot last long.

11 days agoWarning- First pot good but ours has a heated base
Received unit on 2/21 - went through the initial (1,2,4 step) process and ran water through it. When we took the carafe out to empty the hot water, some water dripped onto the bottom of the where the stainless carafe rests and it sizzled - like the resting plate had a heat element on it. This was odd because we’ve used SS carafe’s for the past 15yrs and one of the main reasons we chose this is so the coffee is not sitting on a warming pad (typically with a glass carafe) but the heat is contained with the SS vessel. I put my hand over the plate, at first thinking it might just be hot from brewing and the heat seeped through the SS carafe (didn’t make sense) but I put a finger in the base plate, ouch..it’s definitely a heating element. I see not mention of a heating element on the base plate. This could be dangerous for a family assuming that this are of the coffee pot should NOT be hot or burn you. If there was a way to turn it off - that would be better. It appears there was some sort of manufacturing defect or quality control issue. Maybe model features were mixed during production? Disappointing because we were coming from a Krups that lasted over 10yrs and they no longer make an equivalent model so we tried this recommended unit from Cuisinart. Buyer beware.

Piece of crap
This is the worst coffee maker. You hope no one is sleeping when it starts because it sounds like it will take off. After about 10 pots of coffee it doesn’t work. It’s so noisy and the water does not pour over the grounds.
