Eight Weeks in Paris by S.R. Lane
Product details
Web ID: 16836040A grumpy/sunshine book that will make you smile!
(3.5 stars) EIGHT WEEKS IN PARIS by S.R. Lane is a cute read with excellent character arcs! It has everything Paris, a movie within a book, the grumpy/sunshine trope, and great side characters. If you are looking for a read that will make you smile, this is your book! I love an excellent grumpy/sunshine trope, but mix it with a forbidden romance, and I am allllll heart eyes. There is one significant rule on the movie set: don’t date co-stars. Nicholas Madden, the grump and one of the generation’s best actors, has no intention of breaking this. Chris Lavalle, the sunshine and green insta-star, has the same intention. But what happens when the movie starts feeling like real-life? Nicholas and Chris had such good energy throughout this book, even though they went through so many obstacles to get to their HEA. Their personalities worked together well and brought a unique dynamic to every scene. I have to talk about the movie within the book. I adored this concept. It was neat to see Nicholas and Chris rehearse and perform scenes in a different era and then work out those feelings in the modern era. Plus, having the film in Paris was a bright spot for me because I love everything to do with that city - the culture, the art, and the food - and it was talked about a lot! Lane has a very flowy and descriptive way of writing. If you aren’t keen on excessive descriptiveness, this may not be the book for you. I enjoyed her expressive way of writing! EIGHT WEEKS IN PARIS is a fun and fantastic grumpy/sunshine queer love book that will make you smile. But be warned, it could make you really hungry for Parisian food, too! Content Warnings: (per the author) please note that Eight Weeks in Paris deals with issues related to homophobia, both external and self-internalized, including forced coming-out.

So good
Thank you NetGalley and Carina Press for giving me this eARC, these opinions are my own. I really enjoyed this book! Nicholas is an award winning actor who has just been given a lead role in a movie adaptation that he has dreamed about for a long time, the only problem is the production cast a newbie to play opposite of him. Chris is a model and Instagram star who’s in his first role. What starts as dislike between the two soon develops into more. Can their connection develop past Nicholas’ reputation as being difficult and the fact that he’s in the closet, or everyone’s doubt that Chris didn’t get the part by sleeping his way onto it? I love the enemies to lovers story! Although I think it’s more people with disdain to friends to lovers! I enjoyed both Chris and Nicholas’ points of view! S.R. Lane can really write about two characters drawn too each other, the connection between the two was so well written! I also enjoyed getting a look at what it might be like to be a closeted well know actor and the homophobia that exists in entertainment! I loved Nicholas’ brooding, anger, bad reputation and Chris’ charming ab sweet self! Eight Weeks in Paris is fantastic and perfect for anyone who enjoys enemies to lovers LGBTQ+ romances! Can’t wait to read it again!
